Puffin is looking for an Editorial Coordinator to join their team! The Editorial Coordinator provides editorial support to the Puffin team, assumes editorial responsibilities for a number of reprint titles, provides sales and data analysis, and mines the backlist for new publishing opportunities.
Reponsibilities include:
1. Contributes to the development of the backlist and frontlist publishings program through market research and data analysis.
2. Assists the senior editorial team members with original manuscripts by contributing editorial feedback, issuing check requests, contract requests, and other paperwork.
3. Works closely with the President and Publisher and Editorial Director on various projects.
4. Responsible for handling a portion of the fiction and non-fiction lists each season editorially; which includes writing copy, generating and updating TI sheets, managing metadata, reviewing interior and cover layouts, and communicating with authors, agents, and hardcover editors.
5. Plays a role in launch strategy and list planning.
6. Presents titles, etc., at internal meetings as needed.
7. Researches, analyzes, and tracks sales data.
8. Develops PowerPoint presentations for launch and other internal meetings, as well as project proposals, author pitches, etc.
9. Performs market and competitor research.

• 4-year college degree or equivalent work experience
• 1-2 years prior publishing experience
• Strong organizational and analytical skills
• Ability to multitask and meet deadlines
• Strong communication skills with the ability to interact with authors and agents as well as the entire Young Readers group
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word & Outlook
• Interest in middle grade and young adult fiction and non-fiction
• Knowledge of PowerPoint, Nielsen Bookscan, and other company-wide systems, strongly preferred
