Director Digital Publishing Ebooks & Dig Video
Overview and Responsibilities
The Director, Digital Publishing is a New York-based position that reports to the Vice President, Digital Publishing and oversees the growth of Nickelodeon’s digital video and eBook businesses.
Working with the VP of Digital Publishing and a team of three, the Director will manage business planning and product distribution, and run point on our DTO and eBook partnerships with platform partners including Apple, Google and Amazon.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support the development and execution of the Digital Publishing strategy in accordance with its goals and long-range plans
• Understand applications, formats, and technical platforms in the eBook and DTO businesses
• Work with senior management to achieve the larger corporate goals for the Nickelodeon brands. Ensure the eBook and DTO strategies are in line with larger corporate goals
• Manage day to day operations with external vendors and various internal departments, including Editorial, Sales, Production, Content Distribution, Programming and Legal, to ensure on time delivery of our digital products
• Further day to day strategic relationships with platform partners to provide updates on Nickelodeon priorities, performance and roadmaps, and secure promotion and visibility for eBook and DTO product launches
◦ Lead all DTO and eBook partner calls
◦ Create meeting agendas, presentations and follow ups for partner meetings
◦ Attend industry conferences
• Work with other members of the Digital Publishing team, and where applicable, Ad Sales and CP teams, to execute cross-content merchandising programs
• Negotiate contracts with vendors for digital product services
• Provide weekly reports on sales, distribution and production
• Research technology, marketing trends and industry related news and present information to the rest of the group
• Maintain necessary documents for new accounts (on-boarding instructions, specs, FAQs)
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree; MBA a plus
• 7+ years experience in media operations or partnerships/business development
• Experience managing people
Additional Qualifications
• Deep knowledge of mobile products and technologies, and familiarity with children’s publishing and programming
• Great communication skills both written and verbal – an ability to know an audience and present effectively to any audience, including senior management
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills—and experience applying these skills to resolve business and product strategic questions, product design considerations and technical issues
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and proven ability to work effectively with all organizational levels in a fast-paced environment
