We are looking for a highly experienced Director to lead the detailed delivery and deployment of core software platforms related to the digital content pipeline within Pearson. The Director of Content Pipeline Engineering will act as the technical leader of several teams responsible for building out the core components of the content pipeline. This includes enhancing the core CMS platform to build out automation features, overseeing the content APIs within the core authoring systems, and implementing flexible and scalable content delivery workflows. Will work directly with other Directors of Engineering within the Content Platform Team to design and implement new features within the content pipeline. Will be directly involved in problem solving and resolution of day-to-day design issues encountered by the teams he/she is responsible for. Will translate the technical architecture designs into lower-level software designs that delivery teams can code to. Will also drive best in class software design, development & deployment techniques.
Responsibilities:
Lead several development teams in building out key components of the content pipeline
Manage teams of engineers both on-shore and off-shore to ensure that development is completed on-time and within budget.
Work closely with other Directors of Engineering to develop optimal software/system architecture
Work closely with devops to provide robust monitoring and troubleshooting capabilities throughout the pipeline
Solve technical challenges presented by various development teams with regards to the content pipeline
Work with SMEs and business stakeholders to design and implement new features within the content pipeline
Interface with vendors and third-parties to manage their deliverables with regards to the content pipeline
Qualifications
• B.S. / M.S. Computer Science or equivalent, with strong fundamentals and problem solving skills (such as data structures, computational algorithms, and operating systems).
• 10+ years of software engineering experience building scalable, high-performance systems in a direct-to-consumer business
• 10+ years of experience working with open source platforms, API development, REST/SOAP, Linux, Java, Node.JS, MongoDB/NoSQL databases
• 5+ years of experience leading small to medium sized software engineering teams in an Agile/SCRUM environment
• 4+ years of experience leading platform development using microservices in AWS
• 5+ Years of hands-on experience as full stack developer, at all tiers from the front end UI to the backend data store.
• Successful track record of developing high quality software products and shipping production ready software on schedule.
