Job Title: Managing Editorial Coordinator
(1-YEAR CONTRACT)
Department: Managing Editorial, Operations
Reports to: Managing Editor
Job Location: Currently North York, ON.
Spring 2018 Moving To: 22 Adelaide Street West, Toronto
Job Summary:
Under the guidance of the Managing Editor, TO:
• support the flow of editorial materials between the Production and Editorial departments, ensuring that materials are delivered on a timely basis;
• follow through with new systems, procedures, schedules, logs and other monitoring and reporting practices.
Responsibilities:
Major Accountabilities:
• Coordinate editorial activity within the TO office, monitor workflow and ensure on-time turnaround.
• Work extensively with Excel, in order to update and maintain accurate tracking logs.
• Use in-house database systems (SMART, eMAP and HERS) to process editorial materials, issue official schedules, set up new author accounts, and more.
• Provide in-house database systems support, participate in system testing, and assist in developing appropriate training materials.
• Communicate, liaise and follow up with TO Editorial, Managing Editorial and Production to ensure scheduling information is accurate and to promote on-time delivery of materials.
• Support the Managing Editor on special projects as needed.
Qualifications:
Specific training or job experience required before appointment includes:
• B.A. or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years previous experience in publishing, with an emphasis on trade book production.
• Solution-oriented and technical.
• PC literacy with hands-on experience working with a variety of database and on-line programs.
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
• Highly proficient in Excel, Word and Track Changes.
• Excellent planning and organizing skills.
• Ability to manage high volume of materials in fast-paced environment.
