An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our vibrant editorial team at Palgrave (Higher Education), the division within Macmillan Education which publishes innovative textbooks and learning materials for students in higher education around the world.
We are seeking an exceptionally talented and dynamic Commissioning Editor to work alongside the Publisher to acquire a new generation of texts that will help drive growth on our large and prestigious business textbook list aimed at undergraduate, postgraduate and MBA level students.
The ideal applicant for this role will:
• be an energetic and highly self-motivated all-rounder;
• be determinedly market-focused, with a flair for identifying emerging trends on Higher Education courses and an ability to prioritise tasks relating to the most commercially profitable projects;
• be goal-orientated, with a can-do attitude and an eagerness to thrive in a challenging environment;
• have a passion to develop commercially successful products that stand-out in a competitive marketplace;
• have experience of working collaboratively with colleagues at different levels of the organisation, and of building strong relationships with external contacts;
• possess strong negotiation skills and an ability to influence and persuade key stakeholders in order deliver on agreed publishing plans

The position will be based in our central London offices (in King’s Cross). Extensive university campus travel will be required in the UK and overseas, along with key conference attendance.
