Marketing Specialist, Loyalty & Membership Marketing

Responsible for developing and implementing programs and campaigns to increase engagement, build loyalty, and improve retention and lifetime value among subscribers across USA TODAY NETWORK’s 109 local news properties. Individual will partner with various teams to create direct response, digital marketing and communications programs designed to exceed designated KPIs. Individual must have vision, energy, and a passion for marketing innovation, with analytical, technical and creative expertise. S/he must be an outstanding communicator, who can conceptualize ideas, deploy campaigns, and summarize data at a high level. Must be a strong collaborator across a highly matrixed organization.
Major responsibilities:
• Develop, manage and implement customer-centric strategies and programs to improve customer engagement and loyalty across multiple products and programs.
• Evolve customer lifecycle marketing across multiple platforms, including email, call centers, direct response, digital marketing, etc. with the goal of increasing key metrics (unique visitors & visits, page views and time spent across all digital platforms, app downloads and cross-device usage).
• Develop new communication strategies to optimize email programs, improve customer retention and increase customer engagement
• Manage email project workflow – help develop schedules, manage team to deadlines, write creative briefs, and gather approvals
• Develop, test and learn strategies that will dramatically elevate targeting, segmentation, and personalization practices
• Analyze email campaign results including audience, offers, messaging, creative, deliverability, open rates, click through rates and conversion
• Support our subscriber loyalty program via newsletters, emails, digital events and web content
• Develop and run campaigns to improve customer activation rates, EZ Pay take rates, and other key drivers of retention
• Support the larger Customer Experience team as needed
• Manage external vendor relationships for campaign creative and execution
• Project management for marketing promotions and campaigns, including maintaining project plans, schedules, and tasks and track and report on progress
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree required in Marketing, Business or related field.
• 3+ years of consumer marketing experience, with heavy emphasis on email marketing.
• Must be able to globally examine markets and develop plans to deepen engagement, improve customer loyalty, and increase retention across multiple platforms. This includes promotions, digital marketing, offline communication, and direct response.
• Must have proven experience managing the creative development process as well as email campaign implementation and tracking.
• Experience using a leading Email marketing tool such as ExactTarget, or similar platform
• Experience creating and sending large-scale and/or complex email campaigns
• Familiarity with CRM or some other form of database management
• Computer skills in Excel and database programs
• Experience in the tracking and reporting of marketing campaigns
• Project management experience
• A self-starting attitude—ready to seize opportunities to make an impact without needing to be told
• Must be strategic and creative with a keen ability to design and implement marketing plans and campaigns across multiple platforms.
• Must have strong leadership and management skills; excellent oral and written communication skills; detail oriented; ability to multi-task and manage time effectively; ability to think creatively and question the status quo.
