Job Description
● Looking for an experienced, energetic leader with a strong voice to program and oversee all that is Makers content strategy, from short and long-term editorial planning to social presence to informing video production.
● They will franchise ideation and have experience working across departments including product and business development.
● Experience in digital journalism, working across all platforms and in a CMS is a plus, as is a fluency with data, analytics and audience development tools.
● A passion for management and a talent for organization are both essential.
● Candidates will be culturally fluent, informed and inspired thinkers and possess a passion for smart, empowering, practical and idea-driven content and a vested interest and knowledge of women’s issues and related policy.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
● Own digital content strategy, overseeing daily content production and managing longer edit projects
● Assign (/create) and edit content strategically, keeping social and search initiatives at the forefront (know the difference between a shareable story idea and a search-friendly one)
● Top edit a mix of video content descriptions, in-depth articles, and newsletters in a fast-paced digital environment making decisions based on past content performance
● Identify coverage opportunities and trends
● Keep an eye on traffic and analytics to make sure the team is hitting big picture traffic goals and help team prioritize updating top-performing content
● Facilitate the site’s rapid growth and content/audience expansion
Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree required
● Must have incredibly strong editorial voice and vision with a track record in audience development
● 7-10 years relevant experience
● More than 5 years experience working in a fast-paced digital environment
● At least 2 years focused on packaging and promoting content for both destination homepage and distributed platforms
● Newsroom experience a plus
● Top notch leadership skills with a talent for managing both directs and across other teams and ability to work with colleagues at all levels of an organization, especially sales
● Demonstrated passion for digital media and women’s leadership and development
● Versed in using Omniture, Chartbeat, and/or Google Analytics
● Great organizational, management, verbal and written communication skills
