Sr. Producer - Documentary - NY1 News
SUMMARY
NY1 has an exciting opportunity for an experienced documentary Senior Producer. This Senior Producer position is best suited for a utility person who is a self-starter skilled at multiple platforms. The documentary producer will be responsible for pitching, researching, and producing compelling and enterprising documentaries. We’re all about documentaries that affect change and make a difference for our NY viewers. If you have a flair for compelling storytelling and a love of New York City stories this is the job for you.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develop and maintain contacts and sources in the community to enterprise story ideas.
• Works closely with reporters, photographers and editors in production of stories
• Identifies and pitches NYC documentary ideas
• Cultivates and works with outside organizations and sources to develop story ideas.
• Knowledge of the legal land mines pertaining to investigations and how to avoid them
• Other duties as assigned
• Must be able to provide a reel/portfolio of work examples

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Minimum 6 + years news experience required f years of experience working in news gathering or news production
• Minimum of 3 years in documentaries
• Ability to shoot and edit on Premier highly desired
• Familiarity with the local market is critical for success in this role
• Must have the ability to handle various tasks simultaneously, organize, prioritize, make decisions and work efficiently and effectively under deadlines
• Bachelor’s degree required, preferably with emphasis on journalism and/or communications
