Finance Director - Customer Success Services
We are looking for a strategic and highly motivated individual to lead our sales finance team supporting the Customer Success Services (CS) team in Worldwide Sales and Services (WWSS). CS delivers services that help our enterprise customers implement and adopt Autodesk technologies faster and more effectively. By driving adoption within this strategic customer segment, Customer Success Services plays a major role in increasing overall adoption as well as customer loyalty and lifetime value. The finance director of CS is the business partner to the Vice President of Customer Success Services and drives all financial activities across CS– including but not limited to strategic planning, budgeting, and forecasting of all top line and spend related activities. Consulting billings and revenue within the CS organization will approximate $40M and $70M in FY18 respectively. As well, the finance director of CS is involved in resource planning for nearly 600 HC and spend of over $100M in total for consulting and support services.
The right person for this role will demonstrate strong leadership and collaboration skills, business savvy, financial aptitude, and the capability to work at multiple levels, including high level strategy and day-to-day financial details and be very comfortable leading and influencing change as part of Autodesk’s business model transformation and particularly as CS transforms itself to a focus on driving adoption. The position will be a key member of the sales finance team and will take a lead role in driving awareness and analysis of CS initiatives across the Finance organization and beyond.
Key areas of responsibility include:
• Partners directly with the Vice President, CS, on all finance-related matters. Viewed as a finance business partner and member of line management staff. Participates actively in CS staff meetings in a senior finance capacity (a mini 'CFO' within the business unit).
• Provides financial counsel and support for the overall Customer Success strategy and related initiatives. Examples may include developing forecasts of resource demand and utilization, providing input into the development of new product offerings, developing profitability analyses for the product support business, and/or developing financial models to help the team understand the financial impact of certain business decisions ('what-if' analyses). Recommends improvements to achieve and deliver better results.
• Serves as global finance lead for everything related to CS. Drives alignment across the territory and named accounts finance teams around forecasting methodology and tools. Plays a key role in the annual planning process by modeling projected consulting billings and revenue and engaging in ongoing dialog with the regions around expectations.
• Presents outlook and business update to VP CS and other key members of CS staff at least quarterly.
• Manages the regular global consulting billings and revenue forecasting process. Is the 'go to' person for any questions related to the consulting forecast and any related analysis.
• Is responsible for oversight of the CS monthly expense forecast and the development of the CS annual expense budget. Ensures CS lands the quarter for spend within budget by collaborating across both the CS team and the FPA spend management team analyzing trends and business activities.
• Prepares and maintains COGS Capacity model
• Partners with FP&A on BMT for COGS
• Oversees development of annual quotas and KSOs. Oversees quarterly commission calculation and forecasting process and reviews final commission computations in conjunction with the global commission teams.
• Collaborates with Pricing team to develop consulting and EP pricing and offerings. Partners with Pricing and GCSO teams to set up new EP and CSM pricing.
• Partners actively with Revenue Operations team on issues including determining appropriate accounting for complex consulting deals and implementation of new revenue accounting standard.
• Work closely with Controllership on matters including COGS policy, project Trifecta, External color commentary on P&L.
• Implements and follows standards and policies as defined by Corporate and CS senior management. Escalates exceptions or questionable practices to direct manager.
• Manage and develop CS Finance team of 4 finance professionals covering all aspects of finance support for CS.
Job Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree required. CPA and/or MBA preferred.
• Minimum 12+ years of related finance experience
• Anaplan, SAP, Business Objects and strong Excel experience
• Prior experience in a high tech organization with global reach
• Ability to work on cross functional teams across the globe as well as to work independently
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and strong influencing skills
• A strong willingness to learn and the ability to work with multiple personality types
• Raw business acumen critical- the ability to understand the big picture and provide sound counsel to CS management
