The Cincinnati Enquirer, part of the USA TODAY NETWORK, is seeking a Video Producer. The video producer is responsible for creating videos for digital platforms and social media. We’re looking for someone with a passion for news and storytelling. The ideal candidate should be able to adapt to emerging platforms and opportunities. The video producer is expected to meet deadlines and multitask.

• Video production, both in the studio and in the field
• Video editing
• Video Management on Cincinnati.com and social platforms
• Other duties as assigned
Job Duties:
• The video producer will assist in creating, producing and editing video on demand, live video streams and article content for Cincinnati.com websites and social media platforms.
• Responsible for managing video packages from start to finish, including writing, video editing and social media optimization.
• Works with reporters to help create content for upcoming stories. Serves as a second set of eyes on reporter produced video content.
• Generate their own ideas for daily and weekly video content
• The video producer should work with the social team to coordinate video placement
• Review headlines, descriptions, thumbnails and text within the video for accuracy and quality
• Maintains the video studio and manages all productions there
• Works with the video coach to develop new offerings and storytelling techniques
Requirements:
• B.A. or higher in journalism, mass communications or equivalent experience.
• Prior experience in a daily news organization or digital-only publication required.
• 3-5 years in a daily news organization or digital-only environment preferred.
• Prior management experience helpful.
• Knowledge of Associated Press style and media ethics and copyright law.
• Thorough understanding of video as a news tool.
• Understanding of latest social media trends, and how video can be used to capture these key audiences.
• Ability to shoot and edit photos and video as needed.
• Ability to train journalists to use video as a storytelling tool.
• Excellent written communication ability.
• Excellent leadership ability, including ability to function laterally with other managers, manage direct reports and collaborate with other departments.
• Ability to teach and offer instructional growth opportunities.
• Ability to spot topics with high audience interest for local and national markets.
• Understanding of digital-first culture, including awareness of how today’s audiences interact with smartphones.
• Basic understanding of computer publishing systems.
• Strong experience with “app-centric” culture, including Facebook, Twitter and new digital applications to smartphones as they are released.
• Familiarity with basic and advanced video editing (iMovie, Adobe Premiere Pro, similar tools) and how to use smartphones to shoot, edit and upload video.
• Understanding of the fundamentals of audio/video mixing technology
