Job Description:
Enterprise DevOps Engineer
As a member of the Service Management Tools Team, you will be a part of a team that works to enhance, maintain and support the ITSM toolset, and any integrated tools used to support service management and operations. You will partner with technology groups to identify, design and implement tool interfaces that will streamline and simplify work flow operations; and collaborate and interface with vendor support to resolve issues and plan/implement releases. You will have the opportunity to develop and create integrations between Enterprise-grade, state of the art tools such as BMC Remedy, Splunk, NewRelic, Truesight, and anything else with an open API.
The DevOps Engineer is expected to develop an in-depth knowledge of the organization's company’s, business lines, and IT support structures. They will be required to effectively interface with technology colleagues and managers at all levels within the organization. The position requires a highly motivated self-starter who possesses exceptional communication skills, high quality standards, and an exemplary customer service focus.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
• Troubleshoot and resolve application related issues, including engaging and submitting tickets to BMC technical support when necessary.
• Complete all work order and service requests within service level targets
• Interface with end-users on requirements gathering, drafting action plans / milestones, effective and managing project phases through to success.
• Analyze, design, develop, test, implement and document all customizations based upon a best practice approach; perform maintenance and enhancements to existing software.
• Monitor the performance and capacity of the Remedy landscape.
• Supports and champion the Dow Jones organization's goals, values, and policies.
• Assist in the production and analysis of dashboards and operational reports to be used for metrics evaluations and to identify areas for improvement.
• Proactively collaborate with technology groups in the creation of templates that will simplify workflow operations; maintains end-user permissions.
Education & Experience:
• 3 to 5 years experience with RemedyOnDemand, SmartIT, MyIT and Service Catalog (preferred)
• Experience developing solutions and integrations with multiple tools and systems.
• Knowledge of coding languages and interfaces and leveraging REST APIs, Angular js, java, SQL, etc…
• Creative, out of the box, problem solving skills necessary
• Degree in Computer Science or related field preferred
• Minimum 10 years technical experience preferred
Minimum Qualifications:
• 10+ years of overall IT / software development experience.
• 5+ years of technical experience as a developer, systems engineering, or DevOps responsibilities.
• 3+ years experience with RemedyOnDemand, SmartIT, MyIT and Service Catalog (preferred)
• Must be able to code in Ruby, Python, Node, or Go following XP / TDD paradigms.
• Experience with log collection and analysis, builds and performance monitoring/tuning of
• infrastructure.
• Working knowledge of SQL
• Extreme Programming and Test Driven Development
• Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and cloud services.
• Self motivated and self accountable for delivery and adherence to standards and delivery timelines.
• Strong communication skills (Written and Oral)
Preferred Qualifications:
• Exceptional multi-tasking, problem determination and critical thinking skills
• Creative, out of the box, problem solving skills
• Degree in Computer Science or related field preferred
• Knowledge of ITIL and other IT Best Practices frameworks (certifications a +)
• Working knowledge of cloud technologies, specifically AWS.
• Working knowledge of Jira, Okta, and TrueSight.
