Responsibilities
This role is within the NBC News group and you should apply if you are creative, insightful and passionate about understanding our consumers and how we provide value to them. Our goal is to assist our internal team members including editorial, product and business to make informed data driven decisions. We do more than report numbers, we have to uncover and report the story that's hidden from plain sight.
The job reports to the Sr. Director of Insights, and requires you to be comfortable working independently as well as part of a larger team. You must be comfortable analyzing quantitative and qualitative data sets and weave them together to provide a deep understanding of NBC News consumers. You must thrive in a collaborative team environment while helping to build out processes, frameworks and best practices.
The Digital Insights Analyst is responsible for understanding and advancing the company’s knowledge of customer behavior through quantitative and qualitative analytics in order to develop strategies and recommendations to inform editorial, product and business objectives for specific customer initiatives. The expectation is that this individual will become an expert on the "Voice of the Consumer" by developing and disseminating customer insights and analyses that support the needs of our internal customers (Editorial, Product, Business).
Job Duties
Assist the Assistant and Senior Digital Insights Manager execute both against the project backlog.
Understand, set up and assist in running both quantitative analysis and qualitative research campaigns
Work with other Analytics and Insights team members to coordinate needed data for cross functional projects
Foster ongoing communication to understand and anticipate the needs of internal clients based on their upcoming priorities
Become a subject matter expert to drive understanding of internal data and tools, vendor relationships and overall best practices
Analyzes customer data to create customer profiles, segmentation, and trending analyses
Provide internal business partners with accurate and pertinent customer insights that enhances and guides effective decision making
Works closely with technical colleagues to understand what if any gaps exist in data and existing tools and work with technical team members to document requirements for future implementation
Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Business, Economics, Data Science or comparable
Minimum 2 years analytic experience with Adobe reporting suite and other industry analytics tools a necessity
Strong and creative analytical thinker. Our goal is to tell a story through data not just present numbers and charts.
Ability to communicate with all levels of the business, prioritize & manage assignments to meet deadlines and establish solid relationships.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Entrepreneurial; ability to drive forward with goals independently
Ability to prioritize time and work in a fast paced environment

Proficiency with statistical software (SPSS or SAS preferred)
