Job Description
Position Summary:
The User Experience Designer will report to the Director of Streaming User Experience and will collaborate closely with the internal Visual & User Experience Designer Team and external design agency to clearly document the collective vision of the SiriusXM Experience Group so that it can then be implemented by our engineering teams. Types of documentation will include (but not be limited to): Functional Design Requirements (details regarding how screens/features should present, what should happen when options are invoked, etc), Visual Design Requirements (Screen Samples, Hex Colors, Fonts, Pixel Spacing, Responsive Design Handling, Icon States, etc), Performance Metrics (tuning speed, application responsiveness, etc), Animation Studies (transitions, flourishes, etc), Error Handling and Fault Tree Messaging (user-facing error messaging / state-messaging, etc), and ensuring that User Stories and Acceptance Criteria written by the Product Team matches the intended user experience and design. The User Experience Designer will attend creative work sessions to influence user experience and design direction and to clearly understand the designs / intricacies for documentation as well as attend engineering review sessions to clearly understand specific areas of concern / clarification so that document deliverables are clear and concise. All work will be done using an iterative, agile-development, methodology.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Document both UX&VX design experiences in a clear and detailed manner, both for engineering consumption as well as executive-level summaries.
• Work closely with our design agency, and user experience teams to efficiently design, develop, and document features and functions for our various streaming products.
• Work with engineering to understand the data that power the user experience and ensure that any gaps have been identified, and the data sources are appropriately documented.
• Assist with Product Management requests to provide visual assets, designs, and supporting detail required for application development.
• Quality Assurance of design implementation within the application.
• UX & Design benchmarking of SiriusXM apps vs Competitors.
• Provide status updates on project/design progress as required.
• Respond to engineering requests for clarification/alteration in a timely manner.
• Follow industry best practices and company conventions to develop clear and concise product documentation as described above.
• Remain well-versed in UI standards, key-platform HIGs, and emerging trends both in the UI/UX world and the VD/VX world.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• 3-5 years of experience within the UX/VX design industry.
• Adobe graphic design suite including Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign & Flash (for animation).
• Proficiency with Sketch.
• Experience with prototyping tools & video-editing/animation tools for illustrating design concepts.
• Experience with responsive web design and user experience.
• Experience with mobile application design and user experience.
• Ability to create visual design comps and UX wireframes.
• Technical writer skills preferred.

Technical Skills:
• Adobe graphic design suite including Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign.
• Thorough knowledge of MS-Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Experience using online documentation and task management tools such as Jira and Confluence preferred.
• Experience using prototyping software such as InVision or Axure an advantage.
• Software development experience (HTML, Android or IOS) an advantage.
