Description
As a UI/Visual Designer on the Shotgun Design team, at Autodesk, you will be helping define the design and user experience of future enhancements of Shotgun, the leading project management and collaboration tool for the film, tv and gaming industry. Your focus will be on the creation of UI elements and design associated with navigation, on-screen movement, screen design, and web and desktop application and mobile interface look and feel. The UI Designer will report into the Head of Design.
You are an experienced visual designer who has a focus on creating exceptionally designed applications on the web, mobile and desktop. While your focus is on visual design, you also have a love and understanding of user experience and interaction design. You also have an uncanny ability to apply strategic thinking and business goals to all design work, and possess a keen understanding of interaction design patterns and trends. You will work closely with other members of our Design team as well as several cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineering, support and training teams.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Conceptualize, design, and deliver on a broad range of interface design projects, with an emphasis on web and desktop application experiences, design systems, and standards.
• Translate user needs and business requirements into experiences for desktop, web and mobile.
• Apply strategic thinking in creating interfaces for new functionality, employing web best practices, and applying usability findings and metrics data.
• Deliver exploratory and detailed User Interface (UI) designs for product features, as well as high fidelity visual design comps and supporting design specifications and documentation.
• Push creativity and challenge conventional thinking to solve a large assortment of design problems.
• Develop, communicates, and maintains UI standards and requirements across teams.
• Work collaboratively with the visual designers, user experience designers, architects, project managers, writers, developers, and engineers.
• Meet deliverables and timelines on many concurrent projects in a fast paced environment.
EXPERIENCE
• Strong Visual Design experience with increasing experience on complex systems.
• A strong portfolio showcasing web, mobile and/or desktop applications A MUST
• Familiarity with user-interface and information design principles, and how to design web applications with complex information or functionality.
• A strong understanding of typography, color, and basic design principles.
• Must be a team player, able to work with producers, content providers, information architects, and other designers in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
• Must be able to work on multiple projects, communicate clearly, and respond to constructive feedback from the team.
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
• Highly motivated, detail oriented, and accurate.
• Excellent communication, organization, and presentation skills.
• Specific skills and knowledge must include Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks, InVision, and Sketch.
• A Design or Interactive Design Degree is preferred (BA/BFA/MFA in design, formal training in typography, identity design, interactive design, or other relevant disciplines), and web based design experience is a must
• Extensive knowledge of the Macintosh and PC platforms.
• Creative and innovative mindset.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Excellent portfolio comprised of world-class UX, UI, and visual design examples.
• Ability to generate and express clear ideas and designs.
• Ability to work on multiple complex projects simultaneously.
• Team player with strong communication skills.
• Ability to adapt to changing pace and strategic decisions.
• Working knowledge of Autodesk products.
• HTML, CSS scripting abilities a plus.
• Experience working in interdisciplinary teams using an agile development process.
