Responsibilities
JOB SUMMARY: Oversee the operational activities and efforts of Engineering and QC focusing on compliance, procedures and audits. Ensure Universal Creative’s and third party vendors’ documentation is in compliance with UO procedures. Manage Document Control Team to ensure proper control, storage, archival and retrieval of electronic and hard copy required documents. Manage Engineering team’s task lists, so tasks are tracked and communicated. Focus on process improvements for Engineering, Document Control, and other procedures (ECN, TD, PM, DCN, etc.)
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Manage Documentation Control team to establish all documentation is received, safeguard, entered in to appropriate systems, accessible to team via Share Point, and in appropriate format. Coordinate with Creative to receive all project documentation. Provide a working relationship with Creative, so Creative delivers all requirements on new projects, tracking through the F24 handoff process and final, as installed. For documents not in the UO standard, determine best way to transition to AutoCAD. Supporting the Document Change Notice (DCN) Approval Process for all internal written documentation. This includes vendor’s Service Bulletins that shall be translated into Engineering Change Notice (ECN), Temporary Deviation (TD), or (DCN) and track the results. Review and manage outside vendors working on drawings, manuals, etc. Verify that these modifications, revisions, updates, or initial documentation, are complete, accurate and validated.
• Focus on process improvement within the Document Control area. This includes policies and procedures are updated and team members appropriately educated. Support the development of any new Document Control Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to improve the efficiency, reliability, the usage, storage, retrieval, etc.
• Manage QC’s audit team to ensure Job Plan (JP), Preventive Maintenance (PM), etc. are appropriately reviewed and monitored. As independent liaison, ensure that JPs and PMs remain correct and current. Assist with creating JPs and PMs for new venues. Focus on process improvements for JPs, PMs, DCNs, etc. Develop and educate Team Members, so the have the appropriately knowledge and skills for evaluating these procedures.
• Manage Engineering Department’s Budget to include preparing, tracking, coordinating, allocating, and reporting current and future budgets. Track Team Member project labor hours, so they are journaled to the correct budget. Create checklist of tools required for each position to provide new hires with the appropriate software, hardware, equipment, access, etc. Manage Engineering’s Equipment Purchases, Equipment Repair/Annual Calibration Program, Personnel Safety Equipment Procurement and Management, Bicycle PM Maintenance Program, etc. Manage Maximo, Purchase Manager, PCARD Order Receipts and Payments Processing.
• Manage and track all software used in Engineering (Engineering, Document Control, and Quality Control). This includes analyzing and maintaining software version required to support the parks. Develop a spreadsheet that show renewal dates, subscriptions dates, software update, future software purchases, etc.
• Manage appropriate tracking tools for safety and projects that are implemented and monitored. Ensure engineering task lists and projects (including those of vendors) are appropriately tracked and reported. Document accomplishments throughout the year.
• Oversee and support the Engineering Team Member Satisfaction Representative to help with initiatives and the improvements in Engineering’s Team Member Satisfaction survey results each year.
Qualifications/Requirements
• Manage, develop and execute an Office Space Plan for all of the Sr. Director’s Team Members (Engineers, QC, Doc Control, and management), including office spaces in B-32, B-30, B-5, or other areas. Work with Facilities and their designer to develop the new areas as required, including current requirements and future growth of the Engineering Department.
• Establish a system to validate all Engineering’s Team Members have appropriate safety training and complete such requirements on time. Meet with all Team Member to review their safety training requirements and determine if their other safety training is required. Provide leadership for UO’s Safety Program like SafeStart and other safety programs.
• Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established Universal Orlando policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION: A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related fields is required.
EXPERIENCE: 7 - 10 years’ experience in an Engineering environment focused primarily on project management of ride and show systems; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Required:
• Strong analytical skills with a logical approach to problem solving, troubleshooting capabilities, a team player, organized, and self-motivated.
• Demonstrated ability to lead people effectively to accomplish the departmental mission.
• Proficiency with personal computers using Windows, word processing and spreadsheets.
• Proficiency in electrical & mechanical drawings and technical documents.
• Communication skills in oral, written memos, reports and drawings.
• Experience interacting with other Engineering and Maintenance Department disciplines.
• Experience performing project management functions especially in the areas of technical compliance, scheduling and budgeting.
