The Arizona Republic/azcentral, part of the USA TODAY NETWORK, is looking for an innovative digital reporter to seek out the story of the day and quickly turn it into something socially shareable. We’re looking for everything from the local you-have-to-see-this item to a national story that everyone will be talking about – and anything in between.
This social/mobile expert must be willing to take risks while consistently cultivating what's appealing to a 25- to 45-year-old audience. Everything this reporter produces will be for our social and mobile audiences. This person will report, write content, build GIFs and create video aimed at our core azcentral audience, first and foremost, but that could be shared with a wider audience throughout the West and across the USA TODAY NETWORK.
This person is expected to find and jump on stories that have a high social value and are easily shareable. He or she should be prepared to move quickly and aggressively. This reporter must be accurate and fair, have an eye for detail be comfortable editing his/her own or others’ work quickly. And, want to have fun along the way.
Top applicants will be especially savvy with social media, showing an ability to use a variety of platforms to engage readers and drive web traffic. A willingness to be aggressive and open using Facebook, Instagram, Twitter Amplify, Snapchat and similar platforms is a must.
A strong preference will be given to applicants who have digital production skills, as the ideal applicant will be comfortable publishing content and handling SEO for his or her own stories. Must be an excellent collaborator.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's Degree
• Strong copy editing skills and ability to produce content that is clean, accurate, and “publication ready”
• Social-media savvy and expertise
• Digital production know-how and expertise preferred
