Responsibilities
As the Inventory Control Manager you will be responsible for maximizing station revenue by managing and controlling the station spot inventory and program sell-out. You will creatively massage and manipulate inventory, create make good opportunities, and maximize revenue in key tent pole events. Furthermore, the Inventory Control Manager will act as the "#2" leader traffic department and cover for the Traffic Manager when they are out. Thus, the ideal candidate has a strong command of all traffic functionalities. The position reports to the Traffic Manager with a dotted line to the VP of Sales.
Job Duties
Maximize station revenue by managing and controlling the station spot inventory and program sellout
Maximize revenue in station "tent pole" events
Control station inventory and oversell by verifying all incoming orders for acceptable rates, ratings, and programming to minimize last minute changes
Prioritize, suggest, and input make goods by identifying strategic solutions based on knowledge of inventory, market pressure, product performance, and current pricing
Approve and process all new orders in the sales and traffic systems
Review and resolve all preempted commercial spots including resolution of program changes
Assist sales management with internal pricing and inventory communication with both local and national sales offices
Be a vocal participant and contributor in weekly Sales Management and Pricing meetings
Oversee WCAU formatting and ensure that we are as proactive and creative as possible
Help foster a team approach to inventory control
Partner with the traffic department to insure current and updated inventory availability, sellout information, and placement of bonus spots
Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications
BA Degree or equivalent
Minimum of 3 years of Television traffic experience
Experience with Wide Orbit traffic system
Strong command and understanding of the entire traffic operation including commercial copy, formatting, and log reconciliation
Ability to work extended hours and on weekends with short notice if necessary
Ability to work well under pressure
Excellent communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills
