Team Overview:
The Business Services team within English and Schools (E&S) acts as a key support function to the Managing Director, English and Schools and where appropriate supports other members of the E&S Leadership Team on various projects and initiatives. Broadly, the remit of the Business Services team can be split into three areas:
• Decision making – partner with MD, the E&S leadership team and the Geographies to ensure best practice, collaboration and assist and inform strategy, decision making and investment decisions.
• Delivery and reporting – help the E&S team to remain on track and focused on our plans throughout the year to ensure that we meet our financial and learner impact targets.
• Annual product planning – support E&S with annual product planning in collaboration with the Geographies and product roadmap development and monitoring. Work closely with the Strategy team in GPO during the Strategy development process.
Main Activities and Responsibilities:
The Business Services Analyst role is an exciting and varied role with regular access to senior management and responsibilities across the E&S strategic planning process, delivery and reporting cycle and decision making processes within the business. There is also the opportunity to get involved in a wide range of projects and activities across a variety of functions and in a number of different commercial, operational and finance/strategy areas. The key areas of responsibility for this role are as follows:
• Help shape the annual Must Wins, KPIs and maintain the delivery roadmap for the year across E&S. Lead on the reporting process to track progress against this plan through the completion of monthly, quarterly and ad hoc reporting, helping to identify risks and ensuring focus. Track and report on priority projects as required.
• Support the Business Services Director with the preparation and completion of the strategic planning process and other planning cycles, working as key interface with and partner to Finance, the rest of the E&S team and the GP Strategy team.
• Develop effective working relationships with key stakeholders to understand the activities and product strategies being undertaken in each area of E&S. Be able to synthesise this information and spot trends, anomalies, challenges and opportunities for synergy and collaboration between divisions. Present an E&S view as required.
• Support the Business Services Director in the execution, implementation and governance of the Geography partnership and reporting model to ensure alignment and collaboration between E&S and the Geographies.
• Work with the Business Services Director to keep on top of relevant industry trends through the preparation of competitor and market research as required.
• Ad hoc projects and tasks managed and delivered as required.
Qualifications
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
• Experience of working in a role where he/she will have had exposure of collating information from a variety of functions/LOB’s in order to produce regular MI reporting.
• Has experience of running an end to end reporting process.
• Attention to detail with a thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing tasks.
• Advanced Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) skills with the ability to create financial models/manipulate data in Excel and able to produce visually attractive presentations and reports.
• Self-motivated with a positive, ‘can-do’ attitude towards challenges and obstacles and a willingness to learn.
• Comfortable with a changing environment and able to prioritise workload effectively.
• Excellent analytical skills - able to digest, synthesise and add value a very wide variety of information and communicate to different partners and stakeholders.
• Commercial acumen - ability to assist decision making through the use of analytics, research and business insights.
• Strong project management skills and ability to manage and influence multiple stakeholders simultaneously.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate effectively and liaise with colleagues at all levels of seniority.
