Job Title Web Analytics Engineer
I. Job Summary | Major goals and objectives.
The Web Analytics Engineer is responsible for providing web analytics instrumentation support across Meredith’s web and mobile properties. As part of a larger Business Intelligence team you will help collect data to improve the online and mobile experience for our users and enable reporting and analytics processes. You will be responsible for ensuring that data is captured within our back end and front end data and reporting platforms. You will help drive the accuracy/integrity of collection and measurement data through validation, testing, and documentation as well as enhance any current tracking to improve our data collection process. The successful candidate must be able to troubleshoot data requests, configure changes on the fly, and maintain data integrity. Contributing to data governance, data fidelity, and ensuring adherence to instrumentation standards are key components of the position.
You will need to be an advanced user of web analytics tools such as Google Analytics or Adobe Analytics and be adept at gathering data and information from multiple sources and distilling these down to the key insights needed by a business stakeholder. You will need to be a creative and diligent problem solver and a strong communicator, both in person and in written communications. Being able to translate information into tangible instrumentation plans and to answer business questions will be important.
Responsibilities include:
• Drive the analytics data collection and measurement efforts by translating the business requirements into feature measurement specifications.
• Own the feature measurement specifications development and documentation efforts.
• Work closely with analysts and product teams to identify and work to resolve tagging/analytics gaps.
• Develop and document data collection standards for all new development efforts/site functions.
• Manage tagging defects - Monitoring changes/implementations, validations and track defect resolutions.
• Provide consistent updates on the status of progress/issues, risks and concerns to digital analytics management.
II. Essential Job Functions

50% Data Enrichment & Governance: Drive the accuracy/integrity of collection and measurement data through validation, testing, and documentation. Contribute to standardization and governance efforts. You will own the feature measurement specifications development and documentation efforts. And help develop and document data collection standards for all new development efforts/site functions.
20% Reporting & Analytics: Work with our Business Analysts to identify and help develop new metrics and report creation to provide new insights. Pursue enhanced data capture and seek new sources of data. Help automate reporting to monitor important metrics, build prototypes, and deliver requirements to development teams.
30% QA: Ensure the complete and continuous adherence to the instrumentation standards to maintain a high reliability of the data that flows into our data warehouses. Understand the testing life cycle of web development to ensure that the analytics tracking specs have been implemented as requested. Utilize software to continuously track the integrity of our instrumentation across multiple sites.

III. Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree preferred, particularly degrees in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, Digital Marketing or Business Administration, or equivalent training and/or experience.
Experience:
Minimum 3 years relevant experience working with data collection on web and mobile projects. Hands on experience with analytics tools and techniques, such as Adobe Insight, Google Analytics, or other web analytics and tag management platforms.
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
ESSENTIAL:
Some experience with Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, or similar web analytics tool.
Some experience with a tag management solution, Adobe Tag Manager, Google Tag Manager, Ensighten or Tealium.
Advanced experience with Excel for analytics reporting.
Basic SQL skills and experience working with relational databases.
Analytical and organizational skills.
Ability to work well with people from different disciplines with varying degrees of data knowledge.
Ability to adjust communication style to communicate effectively at a technical or non-technical level with people from across the organization or third-party vendors.
Ability to multi-task within a fast-paced environment.
Strong attention to detail.
Some experience in A QA role of function within the product development lifecycle.
Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and as an individual contributor.
Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
BONUS: (Candidates with some of the following skills will receive extra consideration.)
Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau.
Experience with HTML and JavaScript, especially experience troubleshooting web analytics code.
Experience with ecommerce, digital marketing, or web/app development.
