OVERVIEW
This is an exciting opportunity to support the marketing of Discovery’s world-leading channel portfolio across Africa, Turkey and Mediterranean markets. The portfolio of channels includes Factual, Lifestyle and Sport. This role will also support the marketing and brand activities for pan-CEEMEA Passion Brands (e.g. Discovery Science, Animal Planet & DTX etc).
The role works closely with the Director of Marketing/Digital EMB, to rollout a 360 integrated engaging and effective local expression of our brands across the region, driving viewer tune in and loyalty to our portfolio of brands.
The role is also responsible for the execution and support of B2B marketing strategies devised for the region to support commercial growth and targets.
You may be required to travel overseas at short notice from time to time.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Work closely with the team from the EMB region across Marketing, PR, Brand/Content & Commercial teams to implement 360 marketing & digital strategies and actively participate in development and execution of the yearly marketing and digital plan
• Work with the Marketing Director to develop and execute local campaigns around big franchise programming and stunts and participate in development and execution of marketing initiatives and collateral
• Execute the digital and social media strategy for EMB regions, working closely with the central marketing and digital teams to ensure the Africa strategy fits with wider brand strategy and continues to offer best in class engagement to fans of our portfolio.
• On the B2B side work closely with Ad Sales and Affiliates teams to create effective sales materials and marketing initiatives to have stand out amongst competitors. Build effective relationships with external partners i.e. Ad Sales Houses and Affiliates
• Participate and support the pan-CEEMEA brand and marketing strategy for the Passion Brands (DTX, Animal Planet, Discovery Science, HD Showcase); working closely with the Marketing Director in ensuring they work from both a consumer and commercial perspective and that hubs are utilizing brand campaigns/materials.
• Coordinate communications across the EMB region on new launches and the repositioning of Discovery brands. Ensure clients and agencies understand any evolution of our portfolio’s brand positioning.
• Pro-actively seek opportunities to maximise marketing impact
• Brief and manage internal and external creative agencies
• Brief, select, order and manage stock of merchandise and premiums
• Contribute to and participate in internal and external presentations
• Work with research department in tracking effects of marketing activities and consumer behaviour
• Participate in planning the yearly budget, raise POs and track expenditure
• Keep up to date with trends and developments both internal and external to contribute and inspire with key learnings, best practice and new ideas
• Coordinate the collation of EMB marketing initiatives for the central team
• Work closely and collaboratively with peers across CEEMEA to foster a spirit of teamwork and cooperation and be an ambassador for EMB on all brand, marketing and digital marketing activity
Requirements:

You will be a creative 360° marketer with a track record of developing and implementing marketing activities that maximise ROI to deliver upon consumer needs and corporate goals
You will be able to balance forward-thinking and a keen eye for the bigger picture with the ability to identify and react quickly to immediate opportunities.
You will have proven experience of successfully launching and building products, brands or franchises.
You will be a self-starter with the ability to make and action justifiable decisions across multiple concurrent projects.
CAPABILITIES/EXPERIENCE
• Educated to degree / professional qualification level or above
• Proven experience in a marketing role/environment
• Attention to detail

DESIRABLE
• Capable with Adobe Photoshop, Media Encoder and Premiere Pro
• Previous work in an international environment/with international initiatives
• Previous experience working within a matrixed environment
