Responsibilities
The Systems Engineer, Workplace Endpoint Technology, is responsible for implementing, designing, and supporting the desktop computing environment. In this role the engineer will develop and maintain operating
system images, software application packages, patching and desktop management systems, and automated solutions. The engineer will design and implement solutions that will set the standards for the desktop systems environment. The systems engineer will keep up to date on new technology, automation process, and other technologies used for desktop systems management.
Ideal candidates must have experience at large firms handling the PC infrastructure, management, and support for 10,000+ employees. Seeking a well-rounded IT professional with strong hardware and software
development and systems management skills as well as in-depth knowledge of Windows / Macintosh OS, automation practices and procedures, data integrity and analytical reporting experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB PURPOSE
Responsible for designing, implementing and supporting the enterprise PC / MAC infrastructure which includes:
• Researching new technologies and conduct Proof-of-Concept testing
• Testing and certifying all new PC / Mac applications and security compliance
• Automating solutions for internal and internal teams
• Serves as technical engineer in the analysis, design and
implementation of various projects and initiatives.
• Responsible for the implementation of new systems, upgrades and modifications, including planning, testing, coordinating and scheduling.
• Ensures that change management and defined security procedures for all assigned systems are executed in accordance with client policies and procedures
• Minimizes client service interruptions through early identification and resolution of problems.
• Analyzes monitoring and maintenance data and implements
changes as required to achieve optimum performance. Makes and implement recommendations for resources required to maintain and/or expand service levels
• Responsible for problem management activities, provide tier-three support in problem / issue escalations
• Assist with the design, development, implementation, procedures, and deliverables standards pertaining to projects and services
• Extensive interfacing, collaboration, and coordination of efforts with vendors and other departments in the company
• Provide training to client services and internal teams on technical solutions and proposals
• Perform routine system analysis, and develop reporting metrics, perform proactive and predictive analysis
• Create and maintain technical documentation for operational readiness
• Engineer, build, modify, troubleshoot and document all architect designs and systems builds
• Create and maintain security procedures in a production
environment
• Create custom automation for host provisioning and other processes on various platforms
Solid contributor on the team, and build, extend and maintain some of the key infrastructure SCCM, Casper, and Security Compliance
• Provide troubleshooting expertise for internal and external escalations
• Train and educate others within Technology on current technologies and initiatives
• Solve business needs with technology by evaluating different technology options and vendor products
Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelor’s degree and/or a minimum of six years’ experience in Desktop Systems Engineering
• In-depth knowledge of Windows / MAC operating systems in a networked environment
• Strong hardware and software troubleshooting skills
• Proficient in automated workstation build methods
• Experience working with software packaging and deployment systems
• Ability to produce detailed technical documentation for Client Services and engineering departments
• Ability to meet strict deadlines and effectively complete designated job assignments under significant time and supervisory pressure
• Documentation skills to include creating procedures, users guides, and detail reports
• Scripting (PHP, HTML, Batch, Perl, AutoIt, Wise, PowerShell, etc.)
• Experience with Microsoft SCCM and JAMF Casper software
• Working knowledge and experience with virtualization technologies
• Experience with implementing, deploying, and supporting desktop infrastructure
• Strong background with Microsoft SQL Server, IIS, Active Directory Policy Management and Storage Area Networks
• Self-starter, independent worker and team player
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Extensive and proven knowledge of Microsoft Technologies: SCCM, MDOP, MBAM, Windows 7 & Windows 10
• Extensive knowledge of Internet Explorer and other browser configurations
• Knowledge of IT security and compliancy
• Knowledge of networking fundamentals, including: DNS, TCP/IP, Routing protocols
• Strong familiarity with the application scripting technologies (PHP, HTML, Batch, Perl, AutoIt, Wise, etc.)
