Responsibilities
The Sr. DB2 Database Administrator is responsible for all activities related to the administration of DB2 LUW databases throughout Universal Orlando. The main roles for this position include monitoring, change control, incident troubleshooting, database standardization and optimization, and risk identification and remediation. The Sr. DB2 Database Administrator will be responsible for implementing database designs based on best practices and provide ongoing operational support.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Technical contact for DB2 Database administration and support. Implements complex database designs for the core enterprise applications, including software installation, creation, tuning, and management of all production and non-production databases.
• Work closely with programmers and provides direction on effective efficient queries, appropriate indexing, and overall integrity to insure a high performance environment.
• Establishes and recommends policies on database use and services.
• Configures database access and allocates database resources for optimum configuration and performance.
• Provide complex problem analysis, determination and resolution using industry standard utilities / tools as well as creative thinking.
SCOPE: This position is responsible for the installation, configuration, documentation, and support of software related to relational and non-relational database systems. This position requires working with partners, vendors, and NBC/Comcast technical staff to resolve issues. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
Qualifications/Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Technical Requirements
◦ Must be able to demonstrate detailed technical knowledge in the following areas:
# DB2 Database Administration on Linux and Windows
# Database performance tuning and troubleshooting
# DB2 backup and recovery techniques
# Database upgrades and patches
◦ Knowledge in the following areas is a plus:
# IBM Infosphere and Websphere software stack
# IBM Cloudant
# Microsoft SQL
EDUCATION:Bachelor’s degree from a four year college or university is preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
• 5-7 years of the following:
◦ Implementing and administering DB2 databases on Windows and Linux platforms
◦ Implementing and administering database monitoring
◦ Implementing and administering database failover environments
◦ Implementing and administering enterprise database back-up solutions
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
• Required – IBM Certified Database Administrator
• Preferred – Redhat: RHCSA or RHCE
