Responsibilities
The Director, Quality Engineering (QE) and Continuous Delivery (CD) will be responsible for leading an organization tasked with establishing a center of excellence around software quality and continuous delivery using DevOps principles in an Agile delivery model. The leader will be responsible for building a team of skilled resources, establishing processes, building out the appropriate environments, selecting tools, leading testing across all its phases, and driving continuous delivery of quality software.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Build, manage, and lead Continuous Delivery and Quality Engineering technology team providing best practices and guidance on all projects.
• Develop processes that automate the movement of a software product through the test environments in an incremental and repeatable manner leading to production.
• Develop policies, practices, and processes that ensure software quality.
• Drive progress towards a model of continuous integration and continuous deployment.
• Introduce automation and orchestration tools to enable continuous delivery.
• Build out technologies and infrastructure that support code build, testing, and deployment.
• Drive continuity between environments to increase test validity.
• Design and develop end to end environment automation using configuration tools.
• Improve product delivery cycles through integration of testing into the agile delivery cycle.
• Improve release management by standardizing development and test environments.
• Develop standards for release readiness, release verification, regression testing, and deployment.
• Support transition to production by ensuring production environments are configured to support continuous delivery.
• Work with Operations teams to ensure transition to production is orchestrated without impact to operations.
• Lead test planning and strategy across teams for a unified plan of testing and product validation.
• Devise and execute test automation vision.
• Make platform and product selections to standardize testing.
• Establish metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and lead regular quality reporting.
• Build load testing frameworks and leverage tooling to standardize performance testing.
• Develop and manage test scripts, and test artifact repositories.
• Lead execution of test cycles driving quality and shorter test cycles.
SCOPE:
The Director, Quality Engineering (QE) and Continuous Delivery (CD) will be responsible for leading an organization tasked with establishing a center of excellence around software quality and continuous delivery using DevOps principles in an Agile delivery model. The leader will be responsible for building a team of skilled resources, establishing processes, building out the appropriate environments, selecting tools, leading testing across all its phases, and driving continuous delivery of quality software. This leader will provide the necessary thought leadership, project leadership, strategy development, and planning necessary to deliver quality software that meets business goals.
Qualifications/Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Ability to articulate Continuous Delivery, DevOps, and Quality Engineering vision.
• Ability to establish a data-driven, repeatable, and structured approach to full software quality engineering lifecycle.
• Experience with Continuous Integrations, Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) and Agile Methodologies.
• Deep knowledge of test automation frameworks and successful application of those to testing scenarios.
• Experience with Agile delivery and CI/CD tool sets such as Jira, Rally, Confluence, UrbanCode Deploy.
• Experience with IBM commerce and data platform technology stack.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience in developing presentations and presenting to senior management.
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects with a sense of urgency.
• Resourceful, independent worker with a strong work ethic, and positive attitude.
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering or Computer Science discipline required. Master’s degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE: 10-15 years of experience in leading teams responsible for Quality Engineering, Continuous Delivery, and/or DevOps. Minimum of 5 years Software Development experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Work with internal teams across the lines of business including technology, marketing, sales, and operations to understand the business goals and ensure the focus of the organization meets those goals.
• Partner with external vendor teams to deliver quality work.
