Background:
Overseas English Language Arts (ELA) product portfolio strategy and execution of ELA product sales enablement plans. This position represents a new way of working to bring the best Global ELA products to our customers in a leaner, more learner-focused way. We are looking for an individual with proven product management skills, a strong understanding of product positioning strategies, digital and data-driven learning to support achievement of positive learner outcomes and category sales growth.
Working closely with the Global Schools team, regional Sales, Marketing and Service Delivery teams and customers. The role leads in the development of multi-year strategic plans for the ELA product portfolio, major adoption opportunities and campaigns and provides knowledgeable information for the delivery of ELA print and digital products.
Purpose:
This role will effectively manage the pre-sales activity relating to the ELA products including US Common Core and various US States standards for the Middle East market, ensuring that the sales team is amply supported with information on Pearson’s range of US ELA products and digital platforms. You will lead on ELA led product sales enablement activities: internal training, customer capabilities presentations and liaising with Global Schools team on support required for the Middle East countries. You will ensure regional management is informed of region wide ELA category performance, highlight at-risk business and provide future growth projections by product category.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales Enablement - Field Sales Support
Dean Meetings / Capabilities Presentations / Internal Training
• Provide pre-sales support to the sales team on ELA product capabilities/product presentations and how Pearson products (digital and print) can enable better learning outcomes.
• Build effective partnering relationships within a matrix organization (including, but not limited to, sales, marketing, service delivery, regional management and Global Schools Product organisation).
• Ensure that the consulting needs of the region have been met: conducting key in-services and product presentations throughout region, recruiting and training per diem consultants, recruiting as necessary US based consultants and authors for international presentations, in-services and professional development.
• Provide competitive insights to sales teams and support in developing material on how Pearson US Schools products can provide better learner success.
• Assist regions with large scale business development opportunities including presentations at the Ministry level and distributor and partnership meetings.
• Represent Pearson as a US product expert at local events and sales discussions as required.
Commercial Performance & Strategic Planning
• Evaluate current Global Schools US strategies and product offering in conjunction with Global Schools Commercial, Content/Product, and sales teams to identify customer & market opportunities.
• Allocate & agree Geo revenue forecast for products & services (eg.at investment stage)
• Develop multi-year strategic plans for the ELA product category identifying areas of potential growth, stagnation, at-risk business and incubation of new product roadmaps.
• Provide monthly updates to the Steering Committee on US curriculum category performance.
Product Management
• Maintain the US portfolio product lifecycle by selecting US product frontlist (grow), sustain and retire products.
• Work with local marketing team to plan product campaigns
• Review final ELA product related collateral and messaging
• Agree ROI and outcome measures for key product campaigns (e.g., leads, conversion etc.)
• Agree adoption metrics, reporting and planning & monthly reports back to Middle East Hub and Global Schools Product organisation.
Customer Insight and Segmentation
• Define target segments by market in partnership with Country Sales Heads & Global Schools Product organisation
• Identify key stakeholders - ministry, school, teacher and student profile - and distribution channels, with forecasted reach
• Understand and communicate requirements for key customers and learners for local or global product planning
• Provide feedback on product plans; features/ benefits/ outcomes; and core narratives and materials to Portfolio Head.
Measures
Over time we will add measures related to ELA product growth across the region and learner utilisation.
Qualifications
Previous Experience Essential:
• Minimum 5 year experience in teaching and/or consulting environment in a US Schools market with experience in working with Common Core Curriculum and various US States Standards.
• Strong market research & analytical background related to developing product strategies in a market.
Education, Qualifications & Training
• Degree (or equivalent qualification) ideally a Masters in Teacher Education with US Curriculum background.
Learning Technology Essential:
• Experience with using technology in a K-12 school environment and developing data-driven learning strategies to drive learning outcomes.
• Advance experience with Excel and other databases and strong analytical capabilities.
