DESCRIPTION:
Dynamic news anchor needed to anchor WBZ’s all-news formatted newscasts. Anchor major breaking news and special events coverage. Potentially grow into being the station’s signature voice for news coverage. Develop strong, credible sources to break major local news stories. Develop sources and aggressively pursue newsmakers to enhance WBZ’s image as the dominant news station in New England. Be a leader in contributing to WBZ’s website, social media, and other content platforms. Engage with and build an audience on social media platforms. Use production skills to create exceptional material. Research and produce special series. Host public speaker series events.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have a commanding on-air presence, be a creative and strong news writer, and excel in breaking news coverage. Must have strong journalistic background, an excellent broadcast voice and delivery. Ability to ad-lib and deliver exceptional reports under constant deadline pressure. Expertise in digital audio production and computerized newsroom systems is a strong preference. Previous experience as an anchor and/or reporter in a major market news department is required. Substantial computer and one line expertise is required. Understand that news is a lifestyle and not just a 9-5 job. Must provide examples of work (web links or mp3 format).
