About Us
NBC 4 New York is looking for a dynamic, motivated, technically-savvy morning news producer to join our team of award-winning producers at Rockefeller Center. Candidates should have experience working in demanding, high-pressure situations. They must have a strong “news gut.” Candidates should strive to win the big breaking news and weather stories. They must understand and appreciate the power of visual storytelling. They must also be innovative and inspired by the news revolution happening right now, integrating mobile and digital newsgathering into their daily routines.
Responsibilities
Candidates are responsible for the overall editorial content on one or more platforms produced by WNBC and will be charged with the following tasks:
Sit in the “big chair” and serve as the primary line producer for Today in New York
Manage a team of Content Producers to produce the most compelling and relevant stories, coaching and mentoring them as needed
Pitch compelling enterprise story ideas and be an active participant in editorial meetings
Write, produce, desktop edit and gather content for all WNBC platforms
Stay on top of the latest graphic tools to visually enhance and showcase stories
Work with the control room production team to ensure clean, seamless newscasts
Collaborate with Daypart Managers and other Show Producers to deliver complete local news coverage that is both fair and accurate
Interact with the editors of nbcnewyork.com
Use social tools to stay on top of what people are talking about in the Tri-State
Qualifications/Requirements
Strong journalistic skills and minimum 4 years’ experience as a television news producer in a major news market
Minimum 4 years’ experience in newsgathering and/or production; including newsroom writing, producing and desktop editing
Knowledge of various media platforms, including broadcast, web and mobile
Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Communications or equivalent work experience
