Job Title Engineer Maintenance - KMOV
The Broadcast Engineer repairs, maintains and provides technical and operational support to mechanical and electronic equipment within the broadcast facility. The Broadcast Engineer also provides support to news and production operations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
50% - Troubleshoot technical equipment problems and make repairs. Operates technical hardware and systems related to on-air operations. Monitors on-air signal of multiple television stations and switching sources to air.
30% - Performs prompt service in support of daily news department operations and other station departments.
15% - Performs preventative maintenance as appropriate on station equipment.
5% - Cross trains other members of the technical staff, and improves/updates technical job skills.
EDUCATION
Associates degree in Electronics or Computer Science, or equivalent training and/or experience.
EXPERIENCE
Five years experience maintaining technical equipment in a television broadcast station or post-production facility preferred.
Must possess mid-level experience and knowledge of computers, servers, data infrastructure including Ethernet and fiber in support of IP and communications protocols, and computer operating systems (XP, Windows 7, Server 2008, etc.)
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must be able to work flexible, varying shift schedules as needed including early mornings, overnights and weekends in support of a 24x7x365 broadcast operation.
Ability to install and configure broadcast technical equipment and computer hardware and software, and troubleshoot computer-related problems in support of broadcast specific technology.
Ability to communicate with non-technical personnel to resolve equipment issues.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Must possess a positive work attitude, a strong work ethic, and ability to work well with others. Must be team oriented and have had past successful experience working in a team environment.
Must be able to follow directions and dependably complete work assignments.
Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks and be able to prioritize and make changes to work plans without loss of efficiency or composure. Ability to make well-informed decisions quickly while under pressure.
Must have a valid drivers license.
