The International Television Distribution division is responsible for the international distribution of NBCUniversal product to all forms of linear and digital media. This includes distribution of current and library theatrical movies, direct-to-video movies, documentaries and specials, plus all forms of television product – scripted TV series, non-scripted TV series, mini-series, animation and TV movies.
Responsibilities
OVERVIEW
The Audience Research & Analysis department is responsible for supporting NBCU’s content licensing (TVD), international channels (Networks), and Production (Studios) businesses with audience based quantitative and qualitative reporting, insight and strategic analysis in all international territories across all television platforms.
JOB OBJECTIVE
The Research Manager plays a pivotal role providing analytical and strategic support toward the international distribution of Telemundo content. Key responsibilities are to support TVD Sales Executives and all related content licensing efforts, contributing to all aspects of audience reporting pertinent to Telemundo global licensing, with emphasis in Latin America and Europe.
The ideal candidate for this position will independently initiate and own significant projects in response to business needs and challenges, have a rich understanding of the Spanish language media landscape, collaborate seamlessly with Sales, Marketing and other groups of peers, and possess both passion and skill in applying actionable analyses to advance NBCU’s business objectives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITES
Provide special expertise and insights related to Telemundo program performance, as well as a deep understanding of the competitive landscape, particularly in Latin America and Europe.
Provide audience data analysis across various linear and digital platforms.
Provide TVD with research based deal support, working with commercial, strategy and finance teams as well as other sales support functions such as product management, distribution and marketing.
Create engaging and client ready research-based sales materials to support TVD
Independently manage research projects from inception to completion, including the interpretation of audience data and the writing of internal reports and external sales materials.
Independently self-manage and organize. Be able to set project priorities and manage requests from internal clients.
Gather research and intelligence on competitive landscape, clients, digital and programming trends within the designated markets.
Assist the Director of Research in department management, including the supervision of projects, budgeting and supplier relations.
Contribute to the supervision and training of the department’s interns.
Support Sales Team with advertising revenue and marketplace intelligence.
Collect, analyze and disseminate ratings and reports based on defined projects using various international ratings systems/softwares.
Manage qualitative and quantitative studies as required.
Prepare and deliver research presentations various groups and functions within NBCU.
Present research-based sale pitches directly to clients, with possible travel involved.

Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications
A university degree and a minimum of 3-4 years media research experience, preferably with a content distributor/studio, broadcast or cable network, ad agency, internet company, digital service/platform or research firm.

Desired Characteristics
International research experience is a bonus, but not required.
High proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, including knowledge of advanced functions. Competence with various research software/tools such as TechEdge, ITVR and IBOPE Media Workstation is preferred.
Strong grasp of TV and digital research terminology and methodology.
Understanding of the evolving landscape as it relates to TV, media, entertainment and digital.
Strong numeracy and analytical skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Detail-oriented with the ability to handle priorities and deadlines.
Independent, strategic thinker who can take on a project from beginning to end with minimal supervision.
Eagerness to demonstrate actionable insights via public speaking among internal and external clients, as needed.
Willingness to work extended hours when needed.
A passion for television, particularly telenovelas, is a plus
