DESCRIPTION:
Brand/Division Overview:
The CBS News Social Team is looking for an enthusiastic candidate with a strong editorial and social media background to help manage daily content publication on social platforms, discover trending content on social media and create video pieces for CBSNews.com and social media. This candidate must be able to create strong editorial content that will engage audiences across various digital platforms.The ideal candidate will be well versed in the best practices of Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat - all social platforms -- as demonstrated by his or her active social media profiles.
Role Details:
The duties of the Social Media Producer will include, but will not be limited to:
Creating videos for CBSNews.com, social and off-platforms
Writing, reporting and discovering stories for CBS News.
Producing social posts consistent with the CBS News brand
Your Day-to-Day:
Managing CBS News' flagship social accounts
Covering breaking news and live events on social platforms
Pitching and writing digital articles daily
Producing social and web friendly videos
Adding editorial and social meetings
Collaborating with other show teams, verticals and CBSN to create social campaigns
Live-tweeting/live-posting content on the social accounts throughout the day
Using and testing new platforms for social media purposes
Key Projects:
Work alongside the CBSN Originals documentary team to create innovative social campaigns
Chase trending and viral stories alongside our social discovery desk
Experiment with digital video creation on new platforms and emerging platforms
Create social-first projects that leverage some of our key digital partnerships
QUALIFICATIONS:
What you bring to the team--
You have:
At least 2 years of social media experience in a news environment
Experience working in a digital newsroom
Team player who is able to work with a diverse group of people
Deep familiarity with social media audiences and best practices
Experienced user level with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram & Snapchat
Strong writing skills with demonstrated portfolio of published work
Ability to work well with others under tight deadlines
Flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays
Degree in journalism, communications or related
You might also have:
Must be able to shoot and edit video, and be able to demonstrate video production skills via portfolio of work
Self-starter who is able to identify news stories and social trends and be capable of producing relevant content and videos
Deep familiarity with social media audiences and best practices
