The Arizona Daily Star seeks an innovative, motivated, results-focused Community Events Sales Manager. In cooperation with the Advertising and Marketing management teams, develop and
execute strategies to enhance our brand in the community via face-to-face events, sponsorships and brand to consumer marketing and generate revenue through sponsorships, exhibitor fees, tickets sales and merchandise sales. This position reports to the Market Development Director.
Responsibilities:
• Oversees the negotiation and execution of all aspects of contractual agreements related to
• sponsorships to achieve the greatest benefits for the client and company.
• Develop and implement innovative sponsorship sales strategies, defining what clients are sponsoring and establishing the unique value proposition in each local event offering.
• Pursue new local sponsorship sales leads, expanding beyond existing clients, agencies and contacts.
• Proactively manage the sponsorship sales process with each initiative to ensure financial and marketing goals are met.
• Leveraging internal and external relationships to help plan and execute a variety of events, small and large, that drive revenue.
• Help manage information compilation and sales support through customized proposal generation. Utilizing available research and data where possible, building compelling presentations outlining promotional/marketing elements and opportunities available within each event.
• Teams with Marketing and Newsroom leadership to develop products that are ancillary to
events, such as magazines, apparel, e-book or other related merchandise.
• Work closely with the president to build productive relationships with external community partners.
• Assist in developing annual strategic and operational consumer brand marketing plans
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Advertising, Business, Sales, Marketing or an equivalent combination of education and/or related event/sponsorship/media experience required.
• Proven ability to build trusted relationships with key internal audiences, given working relationships necessary across all products and channels to include editorial, sales and marketing.
• Ability to manage partnership marketing efforts with success growing account s incrementally.
• Understanding of marketing research techniques and ability to apply findings in to face interaction with clients.
• Ability to understand and work within a variety of different business models.
• Proven team leader with results-oriented focus.
• Excellent analytical, written and oral communication & presentation skills.
• Must be effective at multi-tasking and have exceptional time-management skills.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast paced, deadline driven, environment.
