Job Description:
The Wall Street Journal is seeking a talented data visualization expert to help guide its award-winning Graphics team in New York City. The candidate will primarily oversee data visualization in the newsroom, but should also be comfortable with different types of information graphics, interactive graphics and multimedia. The work will include setting standards, editing graphics, training staff and overseeing the development of data visualization tools. The ideal candidate should be familiar with working with both breaking news stories as well as deeply-reported multimedia projects.

The ideal candidate must be passionate about conveying complex information clearly and accurately using skills in data, design and storytelling. Job requirements:
• At least 5-7 years of experience in news visuals with a demonstrated ability to report, create and edit data visualizations.
• Is meticulous, technical, organized and creative in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
• Is a team player who is a creative, flexible thinker and a problem solver.
• Knowledge of web standards, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript and relevant code libraries such as JQuery, D3.js, three.js and WebGL.
• Comfortable representing the team to top newsroom editors and reporters, in addition to being able to give and receive feedback within the visuals team.
• Able to work quickly and efficiently under tight deadlines.
• Able to help reporters and editors learn new skills that will contribute to their visual storytelling.
• The initiative to take on and learn new tasks in a fast-moving environment.
• Excellent communication skills.
