Job Introduction
The Singapore bureau is the BBC’s production hub in Asia-Pacific. It is a multi-media newsroom working across general and business news. We produce daily live television programmes from our state of the art studio and run the Asia-facing front page of BBC.com/news.
We supply, commission and coordinate video, online and audio content from across Asia for all BBC outlets. Singapore is also the base for the BBC’s Asia Business Correspondent.
We report stories of regional and global importance and provide insightful analysis. We have the highest editorial and technical standards and are committed to the integration of television and online production, serving new audiences on mobile devices and social media.
Role Responsibility
We are recruiting for an experienced and creative Senior Producer to assist the Singapore Bureau Editor in overseeing the BBC World News programmes Asia Business Report and Newsday. You'll provide close editorial guidance to programme producers, reporters and planners, to make the most authoritative and engaging television programmes of the highest quality.
The Ideal Candidate
You'll need significant experience as a senior television journalist. Knowledge of business and economic affairs, particularly in Asia, would be an advantage. Experience of planning and studio producing live television news programmes is essential, with an appreciation of the requirements of online journalism. You'll also need the ability to work within a small team of journalists and liaise with a network of correspondents. Fluency in spoken and written English is compulsory, another Asian language would be an advantage.
