DESCRIPTION:
Data plays a central role at CBS Interactive. Our Business Intelligence team is a crucial part of driving business, product, and operational decisions by providing rich data, strategic insights and analytical products. We are expanding our team and are looking for an exceptional Reporting Analyst who thrives in a fast-paced, and collaborative environment, and who is energized by using data to optimize and grow the world’s #1 broadcast network online (CBS.com and CBS All Access).
The perfect fit for this role will be able to develop compelling interactive performance dashboards and produce static reports for multiple stakeholders. The candidate should be data-curious and passionate, a good communicator, smart, flexible and produces exceptionally high quality work.
The ideal candidate has a proven track record of:
• Building and managing daily reports and dashboards showing the health of key business metrics across platforms and various groups, including product management, executives, marketing, editorial, or sales
• History of filtering the signal from the noise in datasets, visually
• Advanced knowledge of SQL, Hive or BigQuery, including the ability to write queries against large structure and unstructured warehouses and understand efficient aggregation and display principles
• Ability to manage a repository of re-usable data visualization templates and views
• Working with data engineers to most efficiently organize and summarize data to facilitate analysis and reporting
Your reports and dashboards will help teams answer challenging questions, including:
• How is the business pacing towards goal and how will milestones impact the performance of the business in future?
• Which marketing campaigns are effective in acquiring subscribers and what are their impact on retention or cancellation rates?
• What are the retention curves for All Access subscribers and how do they differ by plan, program, platform, etc?
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in Math, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or equivalent quantitative field
• 2+ years of relevant working experience in a similar role
• Proficiency with analytical tools supporting reporting and data visualization (Tableau, Python, Adobe Analytics, R)
• Proficient in SQL and Hive coding across various databases and environments
• Strong detail-orientation with a penchant for data accuracy
• Proven ability to learn quickly, work independently, and adapt to change in a fast-paced environment
• Experience in web/video analytics and subscription services highly preferred
• Exemplary relationship builder who is consultative in nature and able to quickly form partnerships with colleagues and customers
• Must successfully pass a background check
Position can be based in San Francisco OR Los Angeles.
