Overview:
This position is responsible for the merchandising, planning, and product categories in our retail stores, BN.com and two distribution centers.
Responsibilities:
• Deliver department financials; responsible for the vision and execution of assortment that ties back to financial plans.
• Have complete ownership of product execution and consistent review and maintenance of assortments for balance (key/core items, price points, etc.) according to merchandise selection plans and strategy.
• Analyze and drive the business based on sales, history, company and market trends.
• Analyze internal and broader competitive market and make recommendations to Director on how to integrate information into business; articulate business impact.
• Manage Buyers to ensure that they are meeting the goals of the department.
• Drive changes to plans based on Merchandising strategies.
• Collaborate with Merchandise Planning to maximize opportunities and mitigate risks at the subject and category levels.
• Establish collaborative relationships with inventory and allocation groups to ensure inventory is in the right place during the appropriate time period.
• Approach subject strategies with a global, customer-centric perspective, leveraging other departments and cross-functional areas to maximize potential.
• Tightly manage store and distribution center inventory to meet turnover goals.
Requirements:
• Keen understanding of retail distribution, allocation, planning, and store operation practices.
• Strong leadership qualities, excellence at relationship building, acute talent assessment abilities and team-oriented.
• Experience in merchandise buying office, including merchandise selection and execution experience;
• Proficiency in all Microsoft applications.
• Strong negotiation and relationship management skills.
• Experience with multi-platform merchandising systems.
• Strong communications skills.
• Knowledge of external or proprietary large retail POS, markdown and reporting systems.
• A minimum of 3 years in a retail merchandising position including direct responsibility for the budget, strategy and planning of product.
• Bachelor's Degree
