Job Introduction
The Designer should be an all-round Graphic Designer whose role will be to support the design team and Creative Director. They will be expected to work with the team to deliver world class design solutions for the marketing briefs that promote BBC Worldwide content at trade events (press ads, printed brochures, POS, catalogue spreads, exhibition panels and online materials), global marketing campaigns and implement the new “Masterbrand” design system for BBC Worldwide.
The role will cover the design of: print, branding, digital assets, social media, on screen graphics, email, event spaces and marketing collateral.
This conceptual thinker will have a good range of design capabilities, with a solid background in visual communications, and an understanding of typography, layout and art direction.
Communication is a big part of the job, so the junior designer must feel confident enough to contribute to the entire creative process. Keeping a finger on the pulse of current trends is also key when moving towards promotion and recognition.
Role Responsibility
The responsibilities for this role are as follows:
• To provide graphic design solutions and support to the creative team to ensure the execution of campaigns and projects are delivered to the highest standards set by the Creative Director and Studio Manager.
• Think creatively - be adept at creative problem solving and provide design solutions for the brand whilst working with BBC’s Brand Guidelines, ensuring quality and consistency of graphic design across all media
• Prepare rough drafts and present ideas. Communicate with senior team members to receive feedback. Amend final designs to approved feedback and gain full approval.
• Ensure close collaboration with colleagues in the Design and Production teams as well as managing key relationships with internal clients.
• Participate in studio-wide creative processes, such as the giving and receiving of feedback on selected creative output; brainstorms for priority design projects; reviews of studio practice.
• Support the Design Studio Manager in regular backing-up of work, and in the maintenance of the departments artwork archive. Be active in participating in discussions around workflow efficiencies best practice.
The Ideal Candidate
You must have an excellent design portfolio that showcases their skills and creative flair.
We're looking for someone with an excellent understanding of Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign who is a fantastic communicator and team player. We'll also need this person to have a strong knowledge of the print process and setting up design for print, as well as of preparing design for web. You will have experience of working within a creative team environment and ideally, but not necessarily, a graphic design qualification.
