AEG Ogden is seeking to appoint a highly experienced General Manager to develop and lead a team engaged in the pre-operational planning, opening and operation of an exciting new arena in Dubai.
AEG Ogden has been appointed as the Operator of exciting new 17,000 seat international standard multipurpose arena, which will be located at City Walk in downtown Dubai. Construction has now commenced and the Arena is expected to be completed by the end of 2018.
The General Manager will have overall responsibility for planning, managing and leading all of the Dubai operational departments. Suitable applicants will have accountability for the formulation and development of strategy; including business planning, continuous improvement and service standards to ensure the Arena's market presence is developed and continually enhanced in line with overall business objectives. Success in this role will be measured on the ability to develop and implement key strategies to meet financial targets, develop and lead a team, continually improve service standards and optimise overall operation efficiency.
The General Manager will be expected to maintain a close working relationship with Head Office.
Suitable applicants will be able to demonstrate:
• Senior Management / General Management experience in entertainment and sport, ideally in a major multipurpose arena
• Strong Business Development background
• Exceptional Customer Service background with ability to create a high service culture
• A hands on approach to day-to-day operational matters
• Ability to develop and lead strategic and cultural initiatives
• Strong business / commercial acumen to deliver business results
• Strong sales and marketing knowledge in major touring entertainment and international sport
• Exceptional planning, communication and conflict negotiation skills
• Ability to advise and influence all levels of management and employees
• Experience leading teams in a diverse and challenging environment
• Qualifications in Commerce or related business discipline preferred
It should be noted that this is a start-up position and the General Manager will be the first appointment to the new AEG Ogden Dubai Arena team and experience in the pre-operational establishment of a similar venue will be well regarded. Previous work experience in the GCC Region will also be well regarded.
An appropriate salary package will be negotiated with the successful applicant.
