Responsibilities
The Position:
As the linear, digital, and social markets continue to converge, this newly created position will be responsible for leading the NBCUniversal Entertainment portfolio into the next generation of digital revenue opportunity. Reporting directly to the EVP, Entertainment Ad Sales, the SVP, Digital Entertainment, Ad Sales will be charged with overseeing all of the Entertainment’s vertical digital ad sales revenue and digital assets.
The SVP will ensure we maximize monetization of current assets and partnerships and capitalize on new and evolving product and sales opportunities across the digital and social media marketplace. S/he will be responsible for driving advertising and revenue performance, formulating sales packages, and creating sponsorship opportunities for these highly visible digital businesses. In addition, the SVP will contribute to and play a leadership role in the development of increased TV360 sales and sponsorship initiatives for the Entertainment brands under the vertical.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Lead the creation and execution of Entertainment digital sales plans and aggressively champion the go-to-market strategies to maximize revenue and market impact
• Drive digital advertising sales, developing new digital and social-first revenue opportunities, penetrating new verticals and markets (from new clients and for new platforms and activations), and shaping future digital monetization opportunities
• Establish and nurture relationships with senior advertisers, agency decision-makers, and brand and content partners
• Work in close partnership with other digital leaders in the NBCU portfolio, Digital Enterprises, and appropriate sales and marketing partners to ensure effective coordination, knowledge, and ultimate market penetration
• Lead the continued sales transformation from a linear ecosystem to a distributed content model across the entire social media landscape
• Develop short and long-term sales and revenue programs and initiatives to maximize overall revenues for existing products and chart growth opportunities for new and emerging products, platforms and client bases
• Offer clear visibility on sales and revenue performance by actively and accurately tracking and forecasting opportunities across Entertainment Ad Sales
• Set and attain annual and quarterly sales targets in context with the appropriate marketplace dynamics
• Evaluate the team on a consistent basis to ensure objectives are met, expected results are achieved, and necessary corrective action is taken quickly
• Keep abreast of the continually evolving digital media marketplace, customers, and competition in order to conceive and effectively execute a sales strategy that generates and informs product offerings and drives improved operations and financial results
• Act as thought leader and educate and evangelize the Entertainment vertical and broader NBCU as needed regarding leading sales approach efforts
Qualifications/Requirements
The Person:
The ideal candidate will be a dynamic, results-driven, digital native sales and brand leader with a track record of building meaningful digital revenues, an expansive network, and an ability to envision and execute on new business opportunities. She/he will be a highly influential leader in the marketing and advertising community, known to drive innovation across advanced advertising products and emerging digital and social media platforms.
• 10+ years working in increasingly responsible advertising sales positions with direct experience in digital ad sales for major consumer facing brands
• Deep knowledge of the digital / social media ecosystem, including advertising models with a strong focus on syndicated content and audience based sales strategies; strong technological savvy and solid comprehension of the ad tech marketplace is imperative
• Outstanding strategy skills; a well-developed understanding of consumer behaviors and usage patterns; knows how to move quickly to seize opportunities in a rapidly changing media landscape and formulate innovative and effective initiatives and sales programs that advance revenue and overall business objectives
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with internal and external partners and constituencies to execute programs in a unified effort using best practices
• Consistent track record of achievement in increasing / maximizing sales revenue and profitability across multiple products and offerings
• Proven leader in building, managing, and retaining a highly-motivated and world-class consumer digital sales force across multiple regional offices
• Broad and deep contacts in the advertising industry, and an in-depth knowledge of the current marketplace for online, mobile and wireless advertising; impeccable reputation
• Exceptional influencing skills and preferred experience working across many areas and levels of an organization
• Analytical / strategic thinker, creative problem solver, resourceful, able to initiate change and motivate innovation and creativity
• Strong leader and persuasive communicator with a vision; proven ability to self-motivate, work independently as well as collaboratively and motivate and inspire a team
