DESCRIPTION:
CBSi Games is the #1 network of games media sites and includes some of the most popular gaming destinations in the world including GameSpot, GameFAQs, Giant Bomb, and Comic Vine.
Role Details:
Based in GameSpot's San Francisco office, the Editor will work as part of GameSpot's global content team on both written and video content, and they'll bring personality and experienced opinion to help us in our mission of creating the best games coverage online. We need someone capable of producing great content around new and upcoming PC and console games at any point during their life cycle (pre- and post-release). We're looking for someone who can not only write and present informative and entertaining coverage of games, but can also find original angles to approach games from pre- to post-release.
Your Day-to-Day:
Write compelling editorial copy that encompasses a wide variety of content types including reviews, features, analysis, opinion, and news
Generate ideas for coverage based on the biggest game releases and news stories
Work with our in-house and global video teams to create, script, and feature in editorial videos
Appear on livestreams and live-to-tape videos to offer opinions and analysis of key games and events
Contribute to our peer-review system for all GameSpot content on a daily basis
Attend industry events both locally and internationally
Key Projects:
Own the content strategy around key releases, working with our managing editor to identify titles and setting up a content calendar both pre- and post-release
Cultivate relationships with key games partners
Create in-depth, long-form content with long-lead projects set in partnership with the managing editor
QUALIFICATIONS:
You have:
Demonstrable video game-related writing and on-camera experience
Working knowledge of multiple gameplay genres and game series
3+ years experience at an online publication
High standards of editorial excellence
Strong existing contacts in the games industry
Passion for video games and pop culture entertainment
Enthusiasm and the desire to work closely with a group of your peers
You might also have:
An active online presence across popular social media platforms and experience with game streaming
Knowledge of current internet publishing trends and SEO principles
An understanding the AP's style rules and a preference for the Oxford comma
