Job Description:
The role of Managing Director is to ensure that the client’s business, marketing and communications goals are being met through implementation of best strategic media practices and by leveraging the internal and external strategic resources necessary. This will be accomplished by providing effective marketing counsel directly to clients and by the deployment of relevant internal and external resources to include marketing research and ROI measurement. This individual is further charged with developing and fostering a work environment that encourages proactive thinking and action by Horizon team members on behalf of clients. The Managing Director is a valuable asset as spokesperson for Horizon’s unique point of view within the media services community at large as well as with current and prospective clients. Finally, the Managing Director is a valued member of the Horizon Operating Committee and an important contributor to issues pertaining to the effective operation of the company.

• Set strategic vision for the account and organize team structure and activities to deliver upon the goal
• Advance the client relationship by building trust and maintaining positive rapport through clear understanding of client’s business, sound strategic leadership and partnership commitment
• Lead strategic marketing approach by understanding and implementing standard methods of investigation, analysis and research, and evaluate current health of client business via analysis of relevant business metrics while also seeking new media solutions to deliver on clients’ goals
• Maintain efficient, balanced and equitable work structures based on workload, available staff resources and taking into account staff strengths/weaknesses relative to client needs
• Manage professional team growth by monitoring performance and guiding in career development
• Tap into HMI resources/tools and collaborate with the Managing Partner and partner agencies to offer clients holistic business solutions
• Find and deploy relevant organic growth opportunities for current clients
• Oversee client contracts and staffing needs
• Participate in new business pitches to grow overall agency business
Supervisory Responsibilities
• Overseeing all members of the Brand Team to ensure consistent and high quality client deliverables
• Ensure Activation Team deliverables are aligned with media strategy and that Activation teams are well versed with knowledge of the client’s business
• Manage performance reviews, coaching to maximize success, setting goals for career development and advocate for team members to Managing Partner
• Subordinate supervisors: Associate Managing Director, Brand Group Director
Knowledge and Skills Required
• Minimum 15 years of experience developing strategic media recommendations
• Strong leadership skills and experience fostering a highly productive team with smart management, goal setting and prioritization
• Strong client facing and relationship building skills. A good communicator who instills confidence and a sense of true ownership
• Familiar with marketing science principles and problem solving / analytics used to influence a data-driven and quantitative approach in driving strategy
• Digital and performance marketing mindset/fluency
• Exemplify collaboration by building and maintaining productive relationships across internal teams and agency partners
