tronc, one of the country’s leading multimedia companies, is seeking a Vice President, Corporate Communications and Public Relations to join our Executive team. The VP of Communications will lead the company’s strategic direction and execution of all corporate and consumer communications. This includes building a next level communications strategy in partnership with the CEO, driving reputation, image and awareness to consumers, investors, advertisers and the media as well as building an internal communications organization, and partnering with other executives, marketing leaders and partner organizations to help drive engagement.
Responsibilities:
• Lead development and implementation of tronc’s strategic communication plan that addresses needs of all internal and external constituents while maintaining coordination and alignment with troncs’s long term brand and overall business goals and objectives
• Maintain, develop, and nurture critical and broad media relationships that are vital to tronc’s reputation among various audiences
• Partner with other marketing leaders and company groups to make sure Comms/PR is in lockstep with and fully leverages other initiatives and programs
• Engage advocacy organizations in partnership on initiatives that advance the company’s objectives
• Stay abreast of industry developments and news, and communicate market intelligence and important developments to the Executive Leadership team
• Lead a 5 person team
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Communications or Public Relations or related field, advanced degree preferred.
• 10+ years’ experience in Communications and Public Relations, with deep expertise in media, publishing and / or technology preferred
• History working with C-suite, and proven success in executing high-profile communications initiatives
• Ability to shape the narrative for a dynamic, fluid brand that is committed to transformative change
• Experience working with cross-functional teams to identify and implement solutions
• Expert at high-profile media relations, executive communications, compelling content development, social media, team and people motivation and management, Comms/PR metrics and analysis, crisis communications, policy and investor communications, multi-audience engagement and media
• Ability and emotional maturity to work in a productive and cooperative way with a variety of people and personalities
• Sound business judgment
