Responsibilities
• Prepare production plans and assumptions, including budgets, schedules, equipment/technology recommendations for a variety of program types (i.e. clip series, docu series, studio based productions, live events, etc.)
• Work with Head of Production & Development & Sr. Director, Production Management from project conception through and including final delivery of all program materials to determine and anticipate needs of each project
• Review/Analyze various production plans, including budget and schedule, to make sure that Networks’ needs are met, be it creative, technical, legal, price, and deadline related and make recommendations to senior management
• Review budget and production schedules and update as needed while reporting recommendations and justifications for changes to senior management
• Liaise & Coordinate between producers and all internal departments (i.e. Business & Legal, Standards & Practices, Rights & Clearances, On-Air Design, Promos, Network, etc.)
• Explain production and technical standards, show formatting, deal memos, contracts, financial reporting, insurance, production and safety policies, wrap requirements to 3rd party production companies & appropriate Networks
• Assist in administering budget policies to ensure that all activities affecting the budget are guided by uniform rules and established procedures
• Supervise production and post scheduling needs for individual shows
• Ensure all deliverables are complete and report to senior management
• Review cost with Management & Finance to forecast accurate projected final costs for various projects
• In collaboration with Finance analyze costs and trends affecting future budgets
• Assess any potential overages and report to senior management for approval
• Review various legal agreements to assure that the terms of the agreement meet Network requirement and that payments are made properly
• Review all invoices, check requests, expense reports, and petty cash reports for projects
• Develop relationships and maintain rolodex of necessary production contacts, including equipment rentals of all types and personnel across all production categories
• Negotiate prices with vendors and crew
• Other projects and duties as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements
• 1 - 3 years of production management experience for a broadcast network, cable network, or television production company; must also have a good understanding of production workflow and have hands-on experience in clip/field/studio-based productions
Desired Characteristics
• Must be able to create budgets, schedules, and full-scale production plans for a variety of program types (i.e. daily shows, series, specials, live events, etc.)
• Must have excellent project management, accounting, communication, time management and interpersonal skills
• Must be team-oriented but able to demonstrate leadership skills, organized, accurate, articulate, responsible, flexible, resourceful, self-motivated, hand-on when needed, and able to delegate
• Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Must be able to work cooperatively with both internal and outside production company executives
