Job Title Senior Editor, The Magnolia Journal
I. Job Summary | Major goals and objectives.
The Senior Editor has day-to-day editorial planning and execution responsibility for 4 issues of The Magnolia Journal per year. Works with appropriate Meredith and Magnolia staff to produce issues, from story concept and scouting, to photography, writing, editing, issue production, and budgeting. Supervises related editorial staff if necessary. Ensures the magazine is completed according to the budget, production schedule, and brand quality standards mutually agreed upon by Meredith and Magnolia leadership. The Senior Editor also takes a leading role in long-term strategic planning, maintaining a 12-month forward-looking editorial calendar, and helping to identify and implement growth opportunities. Serves as primary editorial contact for Advertising, Circulation, Production, and other Meredith corporate partners.
II. Essential Job Functions

75 Works with Magnolia creative team to lead planning, story execution, photography, writing, and editing on 4 issues per year of The Magnolia Journal.
15 Serves as primary editorial contact for other Meredith corporate partners, including Advertising, Circulation, and Production. Facilitates review/approvals of collateral materials with Magnolia editorial team.
10 Attend trade shows, promotional events, sales calls, and other duties as assigned.

III. Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.
Education:
Four-year degree in journalism, communications, English or related field.
Experience:
Minimum 5 years editorial experience, preferably in national consumer-focused lifestyle magazines with home, garden, and/or food focus. Demonstrable writing, editing, and project-management skills.
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong writer and story editor. Basic knowledge of home design and experience with other lifestyle content. Strong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and computer software for common business applications (Word, Excel, Digital Asset Management System and Macintosh experience a plus).
Experience in a creative, fast-paced, multitasking environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to sort through complex problems and respond to questions in a concise and courteous manner; ability to prioritize conflicting deadlines and work under pressure.
Ability to communicate and respond to clear verbal and written ideas.
Must be professional in working with all levels of personnel and management.
