DESCRIPTION:
The Principal Financial Analyst is responsible for day-to-day financial operations, including special projects and continued process improvement towards more automation and tighter financial control and reporting for the SVP, Finance, CBS Information Systems & Technology (IS&T) group .
• Prepares and coordinates budget and monthly IT cost allocations to the divisions, including business unit projects that consume IT resources.
• Responsible for month-end financials, including journal entries and variance analysis.
• Creates expense reports and headcount analysis to work directly with and help IS&T department heads and leadership manage the business.
• Assists in project budgeting and reporting: building of business cases to support projects, prepare presentations and reports to business units and IS&T team, participate in meetings with senior leaders.
• Assists in the implementation, testing and launch of the new IT Financial Mgt. System.
• Assists in the analysis of financial data - extracting and defining relevant information; interpreting data for the purpose of determining past financial performance and/or project a financial probability.
• Reviews costs and performs cost benefit analysis of data in the various financial systems.
• Develops financial reports for forecasting, trending, and results analysis.
• Records, classifies, and summarizes financial transactions and events in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
• Ensures the financial integrity of transactions in accordance with GAAP and CBS General Accounting practices.
• Excellent exposure and involvement with IS&T leadership, including Solutions Delivery Executives and Business unit financial leadership on key issues, projects, budgets and forecasts.
• Receives direction and works directly with both Sr. Managers, IT Finance and CFO, IS&T. Accounting and reporting work is governed by the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and CBS Corporate Accounting Policies.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum of 8 years of accounting or finance experience.
• Must have prior budgeting/forecasting experience.
• Advanced knowledge of Excel.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and excellent organizational skills. Ability to work effectively with all levels of management, within IT and across divisions.
• Strong analytical skills with the insight to provide innovative solutions to financial problems.
• Detail oriented - able to work quickly/accurately under pressure,
• Self-directed individual with a strong ability to manage ambiguity and adapt readily and easily to changes in priorities and business conditions.
• Enthusiastic team player.
• Prior experience with Oracle Financials and TM1 (or similar planning/reporting software) required.
• Prior experience in the media/entertainment industry a plus.
• BA/BS in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience
