The Manager of Booking reports to the Director of Booking and is responsible for exploring new live event alternatives, developing, planning, organizing, coordinating and managing of all activities related to booking the arena and ancillary spaces with a focus on the smaller/midsize events. This role partners with the Director to promote the use of the facility to maximize its utilization. The Manager Booking will also partner with the Director, Booking in negotiating lease agreements as necessary and in the best interest of the facility.
Responsibilities:
• Book, create, facilitate, maintain and develop client relationships with promoters to set up small to midsize events for inside/outside the Arena
• Partner with agents and promoters for each event for the venue.
• Maintain constant research and knowledge of current activities in the live entertainment industry including but not limited to concerts, family shows and sporting events, locally,
regionally and nationally.
• Represent Gila River Arena and AEG facilities at industry events when necessary.
• Negotiate, drafts and finalizes all deals for events with approval of Director.
• Collaborate with internal/external departments such as box office, legal and risk management to prepare all necessary documents including but not limited to license agreement, expense estimate and insurance to ensure successful execution of booked events.
• Responsible for creating overall booking strategy for promoter partners, agents and performing acts which provides short and long term growth for the business.
• Maintain revenue and budgets; and meet budgeted productivity while keeping quality consistently high for the small to midsize events.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• A minimum education level of: BA/BS Degree (4-year) in Business, Marketing, or a related area
• A minimum of 3-5 years of related work experience
• Must have experience working with sports, entertainment and corporate organizations to attract and develop events at an arena or comparable facility
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel); and ability to learn required business systems
• Must have proven track record of developing and managing budgets
• Must have event sales & marketing experience
• Must be a self-starter and have ability to work under minimal supervision
• Working knowledge of event and box office operations strongly preferred
• Working knowledge of food and beverage operations and revenue streams strongly preferred
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays in addition to normal business hours, as needed
