Position: News Reporter, Weekend Producer
Location: CTV Winnipeg, Manitoba
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week. Varying shifts, including evenings and weekends. Overtime as required.
Responsibilities:
• General assignment reporting
• Generating original story ideas for on-air and on-line presentation
• Interviewing story subjects
• Solid script writing and voicing
• Live reporting
• Contributing scripts, video and pictures to the station’s on-line content
• Producing weekend newscasts
• Assigning weekend reporters and cameras
• Writing news scripts, intros and show elements for weekend newscasts
• Supervising and vetting reporter and web scripts
• Acting as back-up producer for other newscasts as required
• Regular weekend and evening assignments
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
• A degree or diploma from an accredited post-secondary broadcast program
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a television news room
• Previous experience news reporting
• Previous producing experience preferred
• Proven editorial judgement and journalism skills with the ability to maintain high journalistic standards
• Solid knowledge of broadcast law
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to lead a team and motivate staff
• Ability to make quick decisions and thrive in a deadline driven team environment
• In depth knowledge of news and current affairs
• Must be well versed in viewer engagement through social media
• Excellent communication skills
• Must have and maintain valid documents required for travel to the United States
• Must possess a valid Class 5 (or equivalent) driver’s license
Bilingualism is an asset (English and French)
