The Renewal Sales Operations team within the larger Global Business Operations team partners with Sales, Legal, Finance and Operations to manage and execute Blackboard’s global renewal portfolio. The Director of Global Renewal Sales Operations is responsible for maintaining accurate forecasts and change management for renewal books for multiple markets and understanding/coordinating renewal activity both internally and externally. The role partners and works closely with Blackboard’s renewal partner, Service Source (aka SSI), managing third-party sales teams to drive Blackboard’s renewal strategy. This position requires an unflappable Operations professional comfortable with working with the company’s sales leaders and upper management.
The Director of Global Renewal Sales Operations plays an integral role in the success of the Blackboard Renewal business. Reporting to the VP of Global Business Operations, s/he will support and assist the director in the following key functions:
• Serve as an authoritative source knowledge for Blackboard’s Renewal Portfolio and SSI partnership, and set field expectations for the SSI engagement.
• Oversee management of the renewal forecast book of business in close partnership with SSI, FP&A and GTM Operations.
• Partner directly with senior-level sales leadership on strategic, high-visibility and/or high-value deals to drive close process.
• Manage SSI sales leaders and renewal sales associates for multiple markets, working closely with SSI leadership on talent management.
• Contribute to and assist in executing the larger Blackboard renewal strategy in alignment with Blackboard’s corporate strategies.
• Lead the annual renewal planning process, inclduing the establishment of the pool and the calculation of annual renewal rates.
• Develop and maintain a renewal pool management strategy to ensure ongoing visibility and key stakeholder alignment on changes throughout the year.
• Provide renewal operations support to Sales, whether the renewal resources are internal or external.
• Lead the effort to find the right balance of renewals work done with internal vs. external resources.
• Partner with the Deal Consultation and Contracts teams on all renewal related operational issues including addressing questions related to the relationship with SSI.
• Oversee the coordination of Bb and SSI resources, and cross-functional operational alignment.
• Ensure that clients renew yearly license subscription within the time frame defined in client contracts with assistance from the SSI Renewal team, Deal Consultation and the Sales leadership.
• All other reasonable duties assigned.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED SKILLS:
• 8-10 years’ experience in a sales operations or sales support role, preferably renewal sales operations
• Leadership experience (line-level management experience preferred)
• Experience working with complex data sets
• Experience managing a third-party vendor
• Strong customer focus
• Ability to work with ambiguity in a fast-paced, changing environment
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Positive attitude and work ethic required
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task, organize and prioritize to accomplish specific tasks.
• Ability to manage, analyze and track data for a sophisticated and often complex sales process
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively partner with clients, customers and fellow colleagues of all levels.
• Intermediate experience using Excel
• Strong analytical, research and problem-solving skills
• Must be able to travel at least 6-8 times per year to team meetings – location TBD
PREFERRED SKILLS:
• CRM systems experience (SFDC, SLX, Netsuite, Peoplesoft, etc.)
• Financial systems experience
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office
