News Content Strategist – Social and Engagement
Wisconsin Media, part of the USA Today Network, has position available for someone who loves to share a good story and revels in the opportunity to bring people together -- whether it be serious, fun or to celebrate accomplishments. The gathering place, on social media or the city square, doesn’t matter as much as the chance to make meaningful connections with USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin readers and communities.
• The content strategist must have deep knowledge and skill on social media. The focus is on finding the right fit and approaches to share the work of journalists who cover a wide range of topics. Over the course of a day it might be the best BBQ to bring to a Packers tailgate party, the best way to get your kids off to school in the morning or sharing breaking news about a car crash.
• Likewise, our organization hosts and partners in a diverse range of events, from town halls on teen suicides and college affordability to spending an evening playfully talking about the Green Bay Packers. Over the past year, we’ve sponsored a subscriber concert series, held topical discussions in art museums, hosted mobile food pantries and screened Wisconsin-based films in local movie houses. The strategist must be able to help create a vision as well as help carry out the detailed work of holding a successful event. It also includes going on camera or stepping in front of the microphone to represent the network.
• Since the strategist will work with editors and journalists in 10 sites and across all departments, she/he must be a natural collaborator and team player who can work well with others and work independently to complete assignments. • This strategist will work as part of the news leadership team and work closely with editors on strategies and execution of sharing content on social media and network events.
• This strategist must have experience and success as a project manager, and he or she must also be ready to take risks and be ready to brainstorm new ideas for product development across all platforms.
