Job Description
Does consumer behavior intrigue you? Are you interested in market research, branding initiatives, marketing projects and representing the consumer voice? If you enjoy gathering, analyzing, and presenting data to drive sales and enhance a brand, then this handson internship in Consumer Research and Analytics was made just for you!
In this internship, you will have the opportunity to contribute to various aspects of the research process, from defining research objectives, to observing fieldwork, to presenting results; and get a ton of exposure to research methods including surveys, focus groups, usability testing, and interviewing. You'll be working on projects for leading brands such as Engadget, TechCrunch, Huffington Post and more to build a robust view of our market landscape and trends and provide thought leadership behind key branding decisions. And you will work with a diverse team of talented professionals and see first-hand what it takes to succeed and prosper as a client-side research professional!
The schedule for this position requires 30-40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
Responsibilities may include the following:
• Assist team with data analysis and reporting
• Assist with designing research studies, including quantitative and qualitative approaches
• Prepare cross-tabs, charts/graphs, presentations and other materials as needed to support research team projects.
• Mine data and synthesize insights across a variety of internal and external data sources to develop a deep understanding of the AOL consumer and to inform product, marketing, and sales.
• Coordinate with external research vendors to manage aspects of research projects including sample programming, testing, data processing, and invoicing
• Manage communication between research team, external vendors and internal clients
• Track and organize data and metrics for the research team
• Participate in team meetings
• Provide administrative support to the department and assist with special projects
Qualifications:
• Current or recent college student
• Preferred Majors include: Social Science, Psychology, Market Research, Social Psychology, Market Research, Statistics or a related major with an emphasis in Digital Media
• Coursework or experience in Market Research, Surveying, Statistics a huge plus
• Superior communications skills, both oral and written
• Demonstrated interest in media/technology/internet and previous internship experience within market research strongly preferred
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Required: Must be fluent in PowerPoint, Word, Excel (formulas, pivot tables)
• Experience with statistical software analysis (SAS, SPSS) preferred
• Experience utilizing both qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis techniques to explore, understand and test relationships between insights preferred
• Ability to follow up with project partners to ensure accuracy and timely completion of deliverables
• Creative and analytical thinker
• Well organized, able to multi-task, able to prioritize with minimal direction
• Personable self-starter with a positive attitude
