Job Description
The Huffington Post seeks an experienced, energetic newsroom leader to oversee its features departments, including entertainment, lifestyle, and voices. Candidates will be culturally fluent, engaged and curious and possess a passion for smart, idea-driven service journalism. They will franchise ideation and have experience working across departments including product and business development. Experience in digital journalism, working across all platforms, is a must, as is a fluency with data, analytics and audience development tools. A passion for management and a talent for organization are both essential. Candidates should be informed, inspired thinkers about the industry, with a broad array of experience, and be active participants tackling the challenges of the business of journalism. This position is based in New York City and reports to the Editor in Chief.
Qualifications
•10+ years of newsroom experience, at least 3 of those in a leadership role
•Experience overseeing a team of 30+ reporters and editors in fast-paced newsroom environment
•Passion for smart, creative coverage in lifestyle, entertainment, culture and specialized verticals
•Ability to interpret data and analytics to inform coverage decisions and meet goals
•Demonstrated history of directing impactful journalism across platforms, digital and distributed
•History of working collaboratively across departments, including product, analytics, audience development, social, and business development
•High comfort level working with business development team on sponsorship opportunities and special projects
•Facility with digital newsroom analytics and tools, and skill with incorporating audience information into coverage decisions
•Desire to develop new voices and new audiences
