Job Description
The Performance Engineering team at Verizon Digital Media Services provides key functions that constantly elevate the performance of the content delivery network (CDN). Team members work very closely with network, system and development resources to solve performance-related issues that could impact 10% of the internet’s traffic.
Key Deliverables:
• Investigate and resolve complex performance issues related to delivery of content on the network
• Identify system bottlenecks and take the lead on resolving those issues
• Identify capacity constraints and work to resolve them
• Write, review and maintain code for internal hardware and software testing and benchmarking workflows
Qualifications
The Skills
• Currently pursuing PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics or related discipline
• Ability to code well in at least one language and ability to rapidly learn new development languages
• Knowledge of network protocols and services (TCP/IP, UDP, HTTP, DNS, BGP)
• Knowledge of Linux
• Sharp troubleshooting skills
• Responsible, self-directed, forward thinker, and operates with urgency, focus and discipline
